It’s not a merger. More of a relationship between the two

Seems like a win-win that makes actually soccer and family sense. You don't see that everyday.

Can you explain how for the people who have no clue what "not a merger collaboration" means.

Joint trainings and scrimmages. Options for "discovery" players. Clear path to DA for top players without having to club shop. Clubs remain independent and can walk away if it's not a win-win.

There is already a clear path to the DA for any top player in the greater tampa bay area that is at any club. If you just let the DA coaches know you are interested in playing at the DA level they will evaluate you and if you are good enough they will invite you to a training or invite you to a tryout. From there it is up to the player to stand out from the crowd to make the DA team for the following year. Not sure that there are any players U14 and up that are good enough to make the DA that are at Florida Premier FC (west pasco). Maybe u13 and below, but you better get there soon because if you stay at FL Premier or any regular club for too long, you will get behind and most likely never make it.

If you don't make it, you can go to TBU and lose to the Chargers. What's the head-to-head this season?

U12 DA is pretty much just a dumb waste of money at all clubs. Kid's haven't physically matured yet, TBU and Player's Club will take virtually any semi-competent player who can pay and the kids have to commit to playing only 1 sport from the age of 10 or 11. Increases burnout, injury and ignores late bloomers. It's a pretty rare kid who is actually read for a DA at age 10 and for those kids it should be fully paid for. If your kid is good, plays on a solid team, plays on their own and not just during training sessions, then they will not be left behind by missing out on u12 or even u13 DA. They will be just fine and hopefully happy too. If they still want it at 14 or 14, then godspeed to them. Those kids have potential.

Maybe this prevents at least some parents from FPFC from falling for the TBU Koolaid and going to their club for an interim DA which struggles to compete in the hopes that their kids don't get left behind at age 15 when they have to go to the Chargers or IMG any way.

I guess I would agree to that to an extent, but having watched the U12 and U13 DA programs, they seem to have a lot of fun and top to bottom, they are better than any other group of players in the Tampa bay area and are top teams in the state of FL. If you play along side very good players every day in practice and then play against some (I say that because there are some very average teams at that age, but not when you get to U15) very good teams loaded with talent. I think it is an advantage to get into the program as young as you are able, but yes, it is not the end of the world as long as your current team has very good coaching and decent game competition (most likely not). However, you better be there by U15 though or that ship will sail on without you. Fully paid for is an entirely different matter. They do have scholarships based on need, but mainly the younger age fees go to lessen the cost of the DA for U15 and above. The Chargers heavily subsidize the travel, hotels, etc... for each player to keep the cost down as much as they can. However, if you would like to donate 100K to 300K it would be greatly appreciated and then we can talk about fully paid DA's.

This "collaboration" is going to "create a culture that promotes a true club environment with a close-knit family bond" for a 5-county area? Um, OK.

Nothing says "close-knit family bond" like a "collaboration" that includes a smattering of players across a 3,300 square mile area - that's almost twice the size of Delaware. I predict it won't be long before this is another Charger "un-merger."

Agreed, I think this is bizarre!

The clubs stay intact hence the "family atmosphere" This only affects those top kids and top teams who have access to train with the DA and be discovery players before having to fully commit by u15.
