Then why did I get chased out of a public county park by a deputy sheriff for playing soccer on an empty soccer field during the park's stated opening hours?

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThis happened to my family as well. I was on the field with my family for 15 minutes when two deputies showed up. The response time was amazing for playing soccer in a public park. The deputies threatened trespassing. I said that would be great so I bring this matter before a judge. I also asked for their business cards. Both deputies left quickly without giving me a business card. This is an example of the county allowing soccer clubs to act as private owners of a tax paid park.
No its an example of liability lawyers ruining everything. That's why towns limit park use.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWell, that's bull****. The limits on uses (and trust me I've been through this in West Palm Beach) have nothing to do with lawyers. They have to do with the "privitization" of public facilities by municipalities and counties. We had issues at both South Olive and Dyer on this. Each time we were chased off by a PBSO "Park Ranger". When we called the county and asked why they explained that the county made money leasing those fields to different organizations and per the leases were required to maintain the fields at a certain level and that if everyone and their kids played on them then they would not be in a condition fit to rent.
