This is why showcases attract college coaches they can come into a good environment to recruit and know the Coaching, parents ( For the most Part ) officials for the most part are higher level as DA and ECNL require A Grade officials that are paid much higher then the 12 year old State Cup linesman and the 67 year old out of shape ref in the middle who is melting in the Floirda heat.

A college coach can fly into a showcase at the DA or ECNL level and watch 60 plus teams competing at a high level with all the above factors in play.

ECNL and DA for Boys and Girls is the only way to go.
Very true. Can think of some State Cup games where the ball was bouncing all over in the air and off the field more than anything that resembled speedy possession soccer. But to be real, at the younger ages no one is worrying about college coaches and should be worried about development. If GPS can prove their development product then the players and parents will remain at GPS. Boys ECNL is structured differently where teams can earn their way into playing ECNL. GPS West Fort Myers is beginning DA and there are pathways between the two locations. If GPS can build up its depth at Trotter's Park in a huge metro Orlando area and show international pathways, that is part of its platform, then the elite boys will get exposure. If a girl wants to tryout for DA and Orlando Pride (or boy tries out for Orlando DA at Montverde who GPS used to work closely with) then GPS will be proud of developing their players to get to the DA level.

By the way. California and Texas along with 2-3 additional states have gone the way of DA and ECNL years before Florida. Those states State-Cups are for recreational level teams.
You got that right , 100%.This years State Cup is way diluted of talent and that's a fact. We are done and headed to boys ECNL next season. We will have to drive a bit extra but sometimes you make sacrifices when there's a benefit. I fully believe boys ECNL will prosper the same way the girls size has succeeded.

If clubs do their job then we should have elite talent overflowing and other teams besides ECNL or DA will be stellar.

If clubs aren't developing coaches first then you won't develop players. All around the state it's the same cast of coaching characters and we keep expecting everything to change.

We just saw the ACYS email and I'd like to know where these fields are going to be, surely Braddock is not going to handle boys and girls practices let alone games. At least this bid was before tryouts so parents can seek other options.

They can move into the old fields used by GPS.

You are delusional if you do not think DA and ECNL are the best two platforms and most and really only known platforms for college recruiting purposes. When’s the last time you saw 150 college coaches at a State Cup game between ACYS vs the Brevard Fishbait U16 Boys team with crap official and horrible parental control? You don’t see it!! I repeat the ONLY two Platforms are DA and ECNL. If you don’t have either one of them your a recreational club.
If your club does NOT provide DA or ECNL to your child then the club is basically a recreational club and your fee’s should be reflected.

I guess Jefferson Cup is just a recreational tournament then and Acys ‘00 beating Gotsoccer #1 in the nation today is just a waste since it’s not a DA or ECNL match. There are plenty of good teams playing in different leagues allowing different paths for development and advancement to higher levels. Get good grades and play on a team that gives some opportunities to be seen and enjoy the ride.

That ACYS team.is doing themselves a discredit by not having players play in the DA. At the level they are at they would get more exposure in DA environment. Simple fact.

How many kids can play in DA in totality in Central Florida? Look at the RUSH DA teams they are no better than rec. Why would you waste that money on rec level coaching

I’ve been around the Central Florida soccer community a lot of years. As a former Maitland rec Coach I watched that team grow up. Majority of those kids are Maitland, FCA, Apopka and South Orlando developed players. Locally we have a long rich history of producing some incredible talent without these foreign profit motivated companies. Makes me really wonder if as a community we are doing our kids a great disservice by allowing these outside groups to come in and “rape” our programs, fields and leagues. OC has failed miserably. GPS will have a similar fate. As a community we are good enough, we have great programs and great trainers. Together we are better and stronger than anyone of those groups. Maybe we need to start remembering, investing and believing in ourselves again. Quit buying into the BS and go back to what we have proven already works. Congrats to the ACYS 2000 boys and thank you for staying true to yourselves and your local community. I have no doubt the college opportunities will be plentiful for those who are interested in that path.

Sorry to get off topic here but with respect to ECNL and I'm not a coach. Players in the top 1/3 of their respective teams should consider this. Contrary to non ECNL clubs and coaches that put it down it is not going away but expanding. Go to the tryouts and see the level of players, talk to the coaches, talk to the parents to find out their views heck even look at the teams in the regional conferences. Don't just dig your heels into the sand, explore options your teens deserve it. Now if your boy is DA quality look at that too but unsure of the whole MV/OCDA issue going forward.
On the Trotters thread here you kind of figured GPS was going to go hard after it this time around and ACYS had to know the chances of losing it were great. Having friends on that side of town and at GPS it was a nightmare for the three years they are at GPS. No matter how ACYS spins it it is going to be a major issue.
