    NSL/Seacoast

“The Northeast Soccer League understands the concern from our members who are receiving calls and solicitation to be swallowed up by larger organizations which for some might be the best step forward but we also know that we serve a wider membership that wants to remain independent and have more than just a place to play.

As we move forward into this fall we are thrilled to announce a new strategic partnership with Seacoast United that will not only strengthen our league by partnering with other leagues across the region but also offer our clubs and players access to the highest standards of play. This new partnership will immediately provide our membership with the opportunity to remain independent and continue to receive the support of the Northeast Soccer League but also have access to the other top platforms such as the NPL, NEP, and the US Soccer Development Academy. Member clubs will also now receive the support and expertise of one of the most successful sports clubs in the Northeast. Seacoast United has been a pioneer in the industry in developing programs and partnerships with towns, clubs, and leagues and in addition share our values of development and building relationships.”

Let’s hope Sea Coast takes over the NEP too. Far more integrity than the current regime.

Had a daughter on a 3rd level NEP team and a son on a 3rd div NSL team this year...NSL play was marginally better. NSL travel was easier and the fields were comparable. NEP team cost 2x as much.

What does this actually mean? Seacoast have no power within the nep so how does this do anything other than to give the nsl support from a club in nh. Waste of a press release that means nothing. Nsl teams still in the nsl, competition is poor and more clubs will leave. But well done to Seacoast on this deal, if that’s what it can be called.

Hopefully, it means the beginning of the end for the NEP.

How would this mean the end of the NEP at all??

More likely end of NSL because they’re folding in order to get their teams into NEP...

Don't see the NSL folding. Creating a club within the brand is a great idea.

Maybe it will be kind of like EDP, where a club can enter just a single team or maybe a few teams that might need a higher level of play, but those teams will enter under the Seacoast umbrella. Seacoast seems to have partnered with quite a few clubs in the past couple of years, leaving them pretty much untouched as far as coaching staff and philosophy, but just adding their name to the uniform, thereby giving the club access to NEP/NPL. This won't be much different, but only a club's top teams will move to NEP, leaving the rest to play in NSL. Seacoast is kind of doing this already in NH, as some of its satellite clubs have their better teams playing in the NEP, but lower level teams are playing in NNESL (a NH travel soccer league). Smart business move.

So basically what we should read out of this is that the NSL acknowledges that they are not a top platform and they are a second rate league in comparison to the NEP. I mean clubs will understand the difference but will Joe the plumber understand the difference. Because if I am Joe the plumber and I have a kid that has talent I would say to myself I’d rather him be in that top platform.

I read the pr twice and still have no idea what it means in practical terms.
