It won't affect ECNL at all. The only thing that would have any affect on ECNL would be if GDA allowed HS Soccer. Until then, ECNL will be stronger in FL.

Are you living under a rock? Have you not read 10 different posts on here that have stated that DA does now allow high school soccer? Many of the sunrise kids that now also play DA have also played high school under the new part time rule for affiliate clubs. The DA finally got smart and now allows players to play high school and then play DA after or play DA before high school and then play high school. They can also still practice with the DA all year. Being Affiliate DA club lets your players play high school, play DA, and play with your main club. This new rule is going to have a major impact in getting players to the DA’s and leaving ECNL I guarantee you. Especially the stronger players who want national team exposure and can literally play with their home club, play in the DA showcase, and then play high school. Its the best of everything. The problem with ECNL is that no players can play with another club all year other than the two discovery players. With the DA you can have an average of 12 players in every age still play with another club and that’s a huge benefit to the DA now. The bigger better DA’s are forming partnerships with a lot of other clubs now so all those players can play with the DA and still play with their home club which will make those partnered DA teams way more competitive than ever. Maybe now finally you will see some very competitive DA teams in Florida at least at the smarter DA’s who go out and affiliate with other clubs to get more players like Weston did with Sunrise. If those partnerships flourish the ECNL will be in trouble overnight. You can argue all you want but the highest level clubs in the country are DA’s and always will be.

Someone keeps going on and on about PT players. There are very few of them and any use of them in large numbers certainly isn't what USSF intended. BDA has allowed it for many years and it doesn't happen there either. For the most part pretty much you're in or you're not.

In fact there are actually staff positions now within USSoccer DA to go out and promote and help DA clubs get more club affiliations and get more PT players. This new policy is why DA's will not compete with gils ecnl and completely dominate on the boys side for sure. Now that the remaining top boys who stayed out of DA to play High school soccer can play at an affiliate DA club and then still play part time up to 12 games at a DA and go to the top DA events the remaining best boys will now go to DA also at least PT. There are also a lot of girls who will do DA now rather than commit to only ecnl all year. But it will be up to the DA clubs to go out and form affiliate partnerships with competing clubs to make that happens and thats the real question whether DA's will succeed or not. Especially in south Florida most clubs never ever work with each other and the kids are the losers. South fl needs to wake up and learn from Texas, GA, and NC who understand the need to affiliate so the better players from all the area clubs can all play together at the area's DA.

Say it all you want - and you have over and over again. That isn't what is happening. Several areas have tried affiliate relationships, only to dissolve them because the lower clubs got sick of losing their best players to the higher level (mostly MLS) clubs. ECNL clubs won't form partnerships with DA clubs for the same reason, so already you've lost much of the better clubs in the market. Kids are the winners in that they now have loads of options to chose from.

Basing you opinion on what a club is doing down south does not make your point valid. The rules are plainly written. The DA actually has a club development director now in each area that goes out and helps form aff8liate clubs which is a new program recently added to the USSF DA. It’s not meant to merge or for DA,s to take over clubs. It’s exactly for players to be able to play part time in the DA and still remain with their affiliated club and play full time with them in state cup or national league or any other full time league. This allows more top players to be part of the DA program who otherwise wouldn’t have been and to help strengthen the player pool in the DA clubs. So wake up, this is new, and the DA’s are promoting it. It’s not for second tier or weaker DA’s it’s for every DA. There are DA clubs all around the country now that have 4,5,6 affiliate clubs or more now feeding top players into the main DA. AND the pasts post are exactly correct that those part time players from affiliate clubs can also play high school before or after they officially roster to the DA. This new policy and us soccer pushing club affiliations now will save the DA for girls and will be a better option for players who were at ECNL because now they also can play high school, play DA, but still play with their home club which you can’t do at ECNL.
