Look, all sports should be seen as a 'having fun' scenario. The statistical likelihood of any of our kids making a living off of this is so low, that it should always be seen as a hobby and having fun, even at the top levels of youth club soccer. But if you're paying $2-3K a year, and can't make the lowest of the low teams in club soccer, the world is trying to tell you something. You are so bad, that a club (whose existence depends on taking your money) doesn't even want to take your money anymore. Go have fun in a town team scenario, or at least don't come on to a soccer forum and complain about getting cut from a club team. Best case scenario, you find another outlet that you also find fun, and actually have a proclivity for.

Nobody gets cut from the lowest of the low. Clubs usually have at least 2 teams per age group and in NH its difficult to have 18-20 kids on both of those teams so there is always room. Even weak players are on the lower team. I think SUSC now has at least 3 teams per age group for girls so there is always a spot for someone willing to pay. And Stars NH will combine 2 age groups to make 2 teams that both play in the older bracket and that way they can group the better players together on the higher team. Make sense.
If someone wants to pay the money for their kid to have fun why is that different from someone who thinks their kid is so good yet will never play in college. Isn't the end result the same? Kid plays on a club team through high school and plays for their school and makes friends and has fun doing so.

I agree. If a kid wants to play, then it's up to the parents to find a spot that they can afford, can make it work travel-wise, puts them in the right competitive environment, and where they can be happy playing the game. If that's a low-level club team, or a town rec league, that's not for anyone else to decide. It's their money to do what they want with it.

If you are a bad skier, we aren't telling them to stick to Pat's Peak because it's an easier mountain. If someone wants to send them to Killington, that's perfectly fine.
