    Sound Should Merge w/ Snohomish

The north end is an area that's growing rapidly as more housing is built which may necessitate a split at a later date if the two clubs were to merge. The combined entity would certainly have enough strength to make it a top 3, certainly a top 5 club in the RCL.

Presently, with some limited exceptions for individual teams from both clubs, neither produces particularly strong competition (overall). Snohomish has that girls team that went to Nationals, and Sound has a very capable Boys '04 team.

Snohomish, comparatively, is doing pretty well with it's own fields and hosting some main-stay summer tournaments so a merger would benefit Sound more than Snohomish, but there'd be something to gain for both clubs with increased numbers and less overhead.

As it stands, it's clear based on years of under-achieving results Sound needs something different. Except for the 04's they have ZERO teams in the RCL D1. I didn't see a single Snohomish boys team in D1 either. Girls are a different story. Snohomish has one very strong team and some other mid-table girls teams in the RCL. - if you don't believe any of this, just go lookup the standings for yourself and count up how many D1 teams are even registered from these clubs in the RCL. Then draw your own conclusions.

The merger that created Sound in the first place turned out to be a train wreck. What makes you think this one would go better?

You'd have created a club that spans from Monroe and Snohomish down to the Woodinville/Redmond border and west to Puget Sound, a geographical footprint larger than Seattle United. Once traffic is all the way back, good luck getting to any practices that aren't coincidentally near your house.

I get the idea of combining to merge strengths, but they would be better off splitting Sound back into NWN and FCA and merging only the FCA part.

What sound need is a new board, those who are responsible for the mismanagement need to go.The longer they stay the more toxic sound will become.

The idea that you would give ECNL (boys and girls) to Snohomish was laughable and all part of Bernie’s plan to protect his territory.

None of snohomish boys would be in D1 as they are all in ECNL... and the bottom 3rd of almost all of those groups.

The Snohomish G05 blew up and half their team went to XF/SU ECNL teams or quit.

Would make some sense for sound to fold into SU. Would alleviate SU field issues, and most of SU is already on the north end of town. Plus Sound is conveniently run by SU's former technical director/girls doc.

Agree that a Sound and Seattle U would make way more sense.

For the idiot that says Sound has no div 1 teams, they have 7 on the girls side, most finishing middle of the pack. Guess that 51% of the population doesn't matter to you because they don't have a penis. It's not 1950 any more guys . . .

                  Hahaha!

Honestly though, don’t you think most of the discussions are focused on women’s soccer? Just wondering if my perception is accurate or not. Nothing wrong with that, was just curious if others felt the same.

An SU/Sound merger would be stupid. Sound/Rush or Sound/Snohomish make a lot more sense.

That 05 team blew up? That’s too bad, I heard some scuttle but didn’t know it was as bad as half of the team. What the heck happened?

                        RE: G05 team at Snohomish.

Team was very good. Lots of quality in top 14-16 players. Many of the players wanted a higher challenge at ECNL and after years and years of promises by club leadership - many of the team went to find ECNL opps. at least 4 of them went to ECNL at XF/SU - a couple quit soccer all together - (there's 6 of starting 11) - a couple got spooked and went to other teams in the area because so many left. Its too bad... the Regional league spot that they were granted fell on deaf ears when they figured out that they were still playing RCL1 - with more games against mostly the same teams from RCL1 rebranded to ECNL - R for a couple weekends a year.
