No one is shocked to hear that hosting clubs & coaches favor their own club players. That's club politics as usual and all of the bigger clubs do the same thing. No surprise. iIf the Irish were the big club in town & hosted RTC, bet many deserving Etfc players would be passed over. Now that CFC will have their own RTC, wonder how many Wafc, etc players are passed over and lesser cfc players given spots. Folks with the power make the rules in their favor. Not fair but that's life. RTC is a money grab for the majority of players anyway. ODP isn't what it once was.

Jeez. Who knew there was so little love down south. And we all thought it was rainbows and unicorns down there.

True. ODP is. "Open" to all (they'll happily take your try out fee) but don't expect fair treatment if you don't play for a Timbers Alliance team.

If OYSA mandates a change to birth year age groups starting fall of 2016, how will that shake up the current '01 top teams? Are the majority of top players on current '01 top teams born in 2001 or 2002? Will some teams be devastated & some fine? Will teams stay together and "play up" to the older 2001 age group and risk losing top team status? I know our team really wants to stay together. Will the clubs allow it?

Clubs with 2-3 teams at each age group will all move to the new calendar year grouping and not allow playups. Clubs with only 1 team in an age group and/or with missing age groups may not have a choice but to play up and be less competitive. Won't affect teams in the Crossfire Oregon group (WUSC, LO, Southside, Oregon City, Clackamas) as they disappear after U14 anyway and get rolled into the Crossfire teams.

Question; if an '01 team qualifies for Fwrl for 2016/17 and that club's '00 and '02 teams don't, when the '01 team's players are split with half 2001s & half 2002s at new birth year tryouts in May 2016, what team gets to play in Fwrl? 2002s? 2001s? Both? Neither? Similar issues for State Cup winning teams who qualify to go to regionals after tryouts...? If teams aren't grandfathered in, it's going to be a cluster.

Parents, particularly of the 2001s who will no longer start if have to switch (some parents with major power within club) will push hard to stay together so their dd can stay with friends & continue to be an A team starter. Every team in the club might want to stay together. Will the club's snip the intent of the change and let teams stay together?
