If the MLS was serious about developing talent, five teams in a league would be the max. They should follow the European model for the academies where games are a means to measure progress and not a means to an end. One game every three weeks will be sufficient for this. This would allow 4/5 practices every week without losing time traveling on the weekends. Practice is where gains are made, not games.

Now that they're not part of a giant league with payoffs and showcases, and calling their own iwn shots, maybe it can be achieved

Fixed. This is what happens when I don't wear readers. I do think MLS will craft a more sensible approach that works for them to develop pro players, not for parents to brag their kid is on the #1 team.

Why would MLS want to include mediocre clubs like OW when they didn't want to play mediocre clubs like OW in BDA? They can set up a scrimmage of they want to get in a game. the whole point of splitting from BDA is so MLS clubs can do their own thing and not waste time on unnecessary games and showcases

But MLS clubs kill non-MLS DA clubs all the time. Isn't that what you are promoting? If MLS only has 2 age groups why couldn't a non-mls club form a competitive team? It has been done as shown with the U18/19 OW team.

If a club like OW could consistently form teams like that that would be one thing, but they cannot and have not. One game fornone age doesn't mean a thing. Again, easy enough to scrimmage local teams that may be worthwhile but no need to make them a formal part of the new structure. Yes not all MLS teams are top teams, but more often than not non MLS teams are NOT top teams.

They should be. If you’re a boy, I get why you would stay because more upside. If you’re a girl and you stay; you’re not smart.

Oakwood will just be a feeder to Revs. They will be a JV program. On the girls side they will be a bottom feeder. Nobody is going to chose them but the girls that play for bad bad high school programs
