State is already watered down; why dilute it further?

This is accurate, since sporting players went to OW and are amongst their best.

There needs to be consolidation of talent in a small state like CT to truly develop. OW needs to get past its arrogance, admit their vision was a failure and do what's right for the future of CT soccer. Trying to keep its teams together and move to inferior leagues would be the height of arrogance at the detriment of kids that love the game.
          You are spot on

What does “partner up with FSA” even mean? Why would that happen and how would that look?
Here's what you are forgetting. ECNL was founded by club owners. They are tight knit group and protective of their turf and product.

ECNL has two clubs in CT. One of them is a reasonable drive for anyone in the state. CFC competes reasonably well as most ages. (exceptionally well at 2002 and struggle at 2003) but FSA tends to be more towards the bottom of the standings at most ages. That shows that adding another club will just weaken the overall level and hurt the owners of the current clubs.

OW had their chance for ECNL when SoccerPlus was up for grabs. At that time, the league mandated that clubs carry both ECNL and NPL teams. OW couldn't or didn't want to make that work. FSA stepped in, bought the entry into FSA and built their programs. They've made slight improvement in performance but its always been obvious that the state could never support more than one ECNL team.

OW will find a path forward. They have a nice culture and some good coaches. When their girl's teams were in the NY NPL and then NE NPL they still competed and sent kids to college programs. They will also retain many top players, not everyone wants to commute to Bethany for soccer practice. Parents will also learn that neither CFC or FSA is going to replace their own players unless the incoming kids are significantly better. This will be a rude awakening for players 8-18 at Oakwood.

dilute it further? all three clubs existed with two in ECNL and one in DA. what are you diluting, each club has its own set of players. its not like your adding a brand new club to the mix.

We are talking leagues now so CT has ability to put together 4 ECNL level teams. FSA, CFC, OAKWOOD and one more should give all the quality players in the state an opportunity to push toward ECNL.

Oakwood is a huge pickup for ECNL, if they don’t take them then it tells us all we need to know, ECNL is money grab league. If this was Europe a league would love to add quality clubs as it drives performance of clubs, teams and players.

ECNL doesn’t need OW girls. Boys sure.

Its not like any of their "studs" were homegrown anyway. They are cheap hired guns that flock to teams with stronger players; no moxie to continue where they thrived and get it done on their own.

I feel sorry for ginga parents having to deal with the crazies again if they flock back. Maybe they’ll convince EM to come up with another affiliation just for them.
