Another lost season for Northeastern.
It's time the AD started looking for a new leader of the program.

I hate to tell all of you know it alls, who jibber jabba about the superior colleges in these parts.... and that is sure, you might get some good talent to stay local, but you have never, ever drawn in the top internationals or even top national recruits to these "superior" schools. To be continuously at the top of D1, and I'll be very generous and consider the top to be 50 RPI or lower, you need above average players at each and every position, even your first 4 subs. An ECNL Stars player or two here, or a GDA NEFC or SSS player there, isn't going to cut it.
And don't give me the weather BS either. The next time a Michigan Hawks or Chicago Eclipse recruit shows up at a New England school, please advise.

Are the local coaches settling for local players and not recruiting nationally/internationally?
What would be your selling points if you were NE, BU, UMass, Providence?

Yup, people have to realize that 2014, when a bunch of locals had real good RPI’s, and the blowhards bring up, was an outlier. It was a real aberration that is likely never to repeat.

They will get it together. Easy to throw stones from your couch with remote in hand so you never have to get up and change a channel.

They're all solid schools (maybe a bit less so with Providence) but that's all. Certain majors might interest some of the players. But top players are going to utilize their marketability to get into better schools and better programs, both if they have the academic and soccer chops. Having a top program takes time with the right coach and vision. I mean how does Geno get the nation's top basketball players to UCONN? Or how do they get top soccer players to W VA for god's sake. Some coaches these days aren't given the time to develop a winning program or the resources.
Basketball is easy (I know kids that were recruited/attended UCONN). Geno has fewer slots to fill and basketball doesn't have partial scholarships.

Similarly, all soccer schools have the same number of scholarships to apportion. So the better coaches wisely use their school's location, academic reputation, or history as recruiting advantages.

There is no other coach around here to compare to, except maybe the BU men’s hockey coach.
