LOL. How many kids in the Thorns program are on track to make that Pro or national team goal? Looking at the college placements(not very good) for the Thorns the last couple of years, looks the the only ones getting carved up are the kids and parents who drank that kool aid.

At least now they can stay on their parents health insurance until they're 26. That's about how long their career will last too. Then they can get a real job with their own insurance.

Super wealthy girl whose father has bought her media blitz fame. Bad timing for Thorns and Nike considering the current scandal of wealthy parents buying admittance and “roster spots” for their kids. The actress’s kid is also a you tube star just like the new Thorns/Nike kid.... Just another dream bought for another rich girl. Sad.
It’s almost all rich girls in GDA and also ECNL. Those girls don’t need jobs or college. Daddy war bucks can support them and buy them everything and anything they need.

              Oh OK, got it.

So it's like having a talking Politics Oregon forum and creating endless threads and discussion about Brexit.

It's political for sure (Brexit) but it's something that has nothing to do with Oregon Politics.

Because it is a counterbalance to the not stop sells efforts by Mike Smith, Lysko (through their roles in OYSA no less) and Westside of how the future for the elite is in the GDA.

The platform has major weaknesses being exposed throughout this country and you aren't going to hear about it from those jokers.

Thank god for t-s, thank god (ok the last part was in jest).

Thorns GDA parent. Far from rich. You can have all our unsecured debt though!

Everyone makes decisions. Some are for the dream some are for the reality, all we have to live with individually.

Your comment is incredibly repulsive and annoying. Rich people think this way. Come down to earth. Ain’t no daddy or mommy war bucks in this house.

Yawn... generalizations with no facts. Fly home little wasp.

Not all of them, but many. Even regular old club soccer is rather expensive. Playing in an elite league with the added practice and travel is even spendier. There are some scholarship kids but the majority are quite well off. There’s a reason so many refer to girls soccer as a rich white girl’s sport in America.

Unsecured debt? Sounds like you are living beyond your means and pretending to be rich.

Facts are facts. 100% of current academy players came from ECNL teams and/or ODP. Those programs are both pay to play. Thorns academy is $4000/year. The heartwarming story of the kid from the projects elevating themselves out of poverty through sports does not exist in American soccer.

                        Fact.

All DA and US Club league players came from USYS first.

                        If you really must know.

Back to basics for you slow poke.

Let’s revisit. The thread quoted stated “buy them anything and everything”. Anyone can prioritize spending on their children’, even if it is not good for their finances. But assuming because they do this that they are “rich” or because they have done it previously for ECNL or ODP makes them rich, is unbelievably assumptive. Too many da_mn upper middle class/wealthy people on TS is what is really the deal here. Not everyone is a doctor or lawyer or has one stay at home parent because the other parent’s job pays so well. Of course for some readers here, clearly that is hard to believe. Some people would not know sacrifice if it hit them in the face, but in my experience plenty of soccer parents do sacrifice, not “mostly everyone” has disposable income looking for a home.

Most families I know in GDA are quite well off. That much soccer from u little is expensive. The unsecured debt comment was a joke about the middle class people who do spend more than they can afford for little Suzie’s Soccer.

If more were given the cold hard facts on the likelihood of athletic scholarships more would drop out, even more so for boys than girls. Most families find out during recruiting - too late - that little Suzy or Grayson just aren't that special and they'll get $7K a year for playing soccer after years of paying thousands per year. Suzy and Grayson could get $15K in academic money (and even more at private schools) if they studied more and prepared for the SAT - all on their own for free.

Why aren’t the clubs letting their players know the payoffs are usually so low?
