Pre Academy the stepping stone to the academy it is not, if Weston was serious about this structure players would be moving up and down constantly as there growth rate changes, and not simply dismiss kids. With that theory it’s not an academy it’s a win at all cost mentality. Time to move on from the scam!

Reasons to leave Weston:
1-delusional dad
2-coach dosent like u
3-your team sucks (08-pre)
No other program south of OC can offer what Weston offers its academy players. Fact.

Their Program sucks, their coaches sucks.
Who’s is the delusional now?
Weston is big in regard to structure But once the mls start functioning Weston will end up been like Kendall, a mediocre neighborhood club with a da license.

it is tough

At Weston, one of the attractive features is a feature that kills good coaching. A lesson plan developed at the DOC level is rolled out to all coaches who must generally follow it and stay within its parameters. Many good coaches are then restricted in doing what might be necessary for their teams. And, there are too many out of shape dough boys playing for Weston. Then need conditioning - need it bad.
Where do you find it? It is tough - my first suggestion is to probably ignore this forum. You can see coach's records -- you can see if their teams do worse as the season progresses or gets better. That seems like one good sign - yet, that one sign is not dispositive of whether the coach is a good coach or not. Just don't get sucked in by marketing and numbers.
If you have an athletic background, you can probably tell who is good and who isn't quickly - and by athletic, I mean beyond kiddie athletics -- college at a minimum. Then, just watch. How much time do the kids spend standing around? How do they respond with the ball when under pressure? Are they able to run an entire game? Are they slow to get rid of the ball. Do the players in the back look to kick first and pass second. Do the midfielders make vertical runs rather than checking to the side to help give a 45? If they check to the 45, does their adjacent midfiielder also shift? Do they wait until a player has the ball to shift or do they begin shifting as soon as the pass is made to the person their shift is based off -- good coaches will cover these things. Many players don't get it -- and their parents screw it up by telling them something different after the game -- but look for these cues -- then decide what you have.
