Nope. Will cost parents around $10k with tuition and tournaments if parents go) etc if they progress.

Put it this way - You don’t have any idea what your talking about. You think the parents of the graduating Boys u19’s from seacoast MLS NEXT think that way? Lol. How about the seacoast MLS NEXT boys u17’s? Your kid must have been cut or never made it that far!

Seacoast Academy U17/19 is not free though they do scholarship some of their best talent. With the changes in the MLS Next program Seacoast’s Academy teams(and all the other MLS Next youth programs) are being picked over harder and earlier by The Revs program. Functioning closer to the pro pathway it was designed for. I’ll be curious how well Seacoast and other Academies do now that at U17 and 19 they will no longer be exposed to the MLS academy talent. Makes the HS vs Academy approach a tougher question for some I think.

If your not playing Prep school soccer, the level of play in HS for the most part is terrible. Most MLS teams are pretty good esp in the Spring season when they have their prep school players back.

I am not sure, but are you aware of the differences between MLS Next and MLS Next Flex? In case you didn’t know the MLS Academies no longer wanted to play regional club competition so broke MLS Next into tiers. Seacoast plays in the “Flex” league and only at the youth level (pre U15 ) do the MLS Academies play regional club now. They do this to identify identify the best regional talent to invite to their MLS Academy teams. In fact MLS Next Pro is another new tier entirely that allows for the aggregation of talent outside birth year mandates that appear to have the greatest chance on the pro pathway. In some MLS programs this will be their official 2nd team.

This is not a knock on MLS Next Flex teams like Seacoast’s or the Bolts, it just is a by product of a system that is slowly morphing into a true pyramid structure with MLS Academies at the top. I can understand how this could confuse people not staying on top of the changes. For example Seacoast’s U16 Academy team does show 2 MLS program teams on their upcoming schedule, Toronto and NYFC. Both of these MLS programs have tiers to their Academies with their top talent playing in the MLS Next (not Flex) and MLS Next Pro where the NE Revolution now plays only at the MLS Next level. Using Seacoast as an example, and again the U16 team this past spring the 2 players the Revs were interested in on the Seacoast team were recruited away. Access to the prop pathway and no Academy costs is a strong lure. The system is set up for the MLS teams to identify by U15 from the regional clubs the players they wish to invite into their Acadamies. This wasn’t always like this, but that is what is currently is happening.

The Revs will host the Seacoast U17's on 9/25 and Seacoast hosts Toronto FC on 10/15. The Seacoast U19's play them both on the same day. Both the U17s (Montreal and NYCFC) and U19s (at Toronto) are scheduled to paly MLS academies in the Spring as well.

Sorry, but you really have no idea what you are talking about. The MLS academies are included in MLSNext Flex play, which comprise of a little more than half of their matches. Seacoast U14s, U15s, & U17s all play Revs, NYCFC, Toronto & Montreal (15s/17s) in MLSNext Flex competition. Seacoast will also play those MLS academies when they have teams in the other age groups (U13s play NYCFC, U16s play Toronto, U19s play Revs & Toronto). These are top teams in their academy age group, not lower tiers; it's just that not all academies have teams at these age groups. Outside of MLSNext Flex play, yes, the MLS academy teams play other MLS academy teams, and non-MLS academies play other non-MLS academies, which again is a little under half of their matches throughout the year. The non-MLS & MLS academies are also able to play each other at a few big events during the year, as well (MLSNext Fest, MLSNext Cup, etc.).
