The only one who seems concerned about it is you (if indeed you are the same poster) everyone seemed fine with the distinctions and left it at that. You are correct that it doesn't matter in some ways, if your child is learning the game, having fun, making friends, and learning how to push themselves to be better at something and that effort at the task translates into improvement, then you are getting the benefit of playing a sport.
