Prep Revs Academy boarding school = instant ISL championships for the school.
Except US Soccer won't allow them to play in the ISL

Who told you that nonsense? Thousands of DAP players play for their Prep middle and/or high school teams. They are called waivers.

Well, besides the fact that most teams might have a handful of waivered players and many teams have none your "thousands" is way off...

It's one thing to have a player here or there waivered. Let an entire team play flies in the face of banning HS play for all other players. And what's in it for the school? They'll have a winning team that no other students can play on. Nor can a school team carry three squad (U14 U16 U18)

Agree with the above points. I doubt the Revs coaches will want them training with the school coach. Plus, the Revs will need most of those players full time for the entire year on a DAP type training-to-game ratio, not joining in after playing a game laden high school season.

So does anyone know how the Union program works? Are the Revs really trying to emulate this?

Maybe they've had talks but there's no way this is happeniong

                - no school would take that many players on scholarship. Revs would have to subsidize, meaning pouring more money into a program that is run notoriously on the cheap
                - Revs don't need to offer it because it is the destination club already, although it would bring in players from around the country vs just locals
                - school gets little out of it other than a championship team that other students can't participate on, and, more importantly, would be mocked because it is full of ringers. Who would want to play them?
                - who gets to play on a HS team? They have three squads of 18+. Even taking out some 8th graders that's too many players
                - no way the Revs would let players anywhere near a HS coach, nor do they want their players getting banged up in a HS season
                - no way US soccer would want an entire team playing HS ball because waivers/HS soccer ban is already a controversial issue

Lots of "no ways" but Union is doing it and enough smoke to believe there is fire. You don't want to happen, which is fine. I'm more interested in what is actually happening.

I may be remembering incorrectly but I believe most Union parents pay for that "privilege." MLS teams can't justify the cost of educating players, most of whom won't ever go pro and even if they did, they won't be at European pro prices.

Union school was created for soccer (not added to an existing prep school), and the parents do pay tuition. Completely different situation than having some players board at an existing school, and maybe / maybe not playing soccer for the team. Union school has soccer training built into the curriculum.

Union is not doing it. YSC academy was created for soccer players, and has training built into the curriculum (training conducted by Union coaching staff). Completely different than Revs sending some players to an existing prep that plays in a normal prep school league.

"Student-athletes from the school do not play for a YSC Academy school team, but rather for their local club team or one of Philadelphia Union’s amateur Academy squads (U14, U16 or U18)."

Some parents actually have the "right" to pay $28k a year in tuition, and then also pay for club soccer fees, because their kid doesn't play any high school, and also did not make the Union academy team.

Apples and oranges in terms of set up. Either way Revs wouldn't start a school (too involved) and won't pay for players to attend prep school either (too costly).

No--but they may be exploring a formal or informal partnership with a local boarding school that would consider admitting some subset of their players--kids who are good enough to make the Revs but who might live a little too far to make 3-4 trips to foxboro each week. If instead there was a local boarding school that would be open to accepting some subset of players, and who would also be amenable to a shuttlebus running to Foxboro, then there may be some logic to an arrangement. Kids would still have to be admitted separately. And if Revs were possibly open to granting fall waivers for 3-4 such players each year, maybe the school would be interested. Doubtful this would work in ISL, but there may be some schools who would consider it. Why not?

They've already done this in an informal way at Milton Academy.
