Any news on the results of the Walpole-Braintree game as it should be over by now?

          Current standings

Who is on top of the brackets?
Needham beat and lost to Weymouth, but then beat Braintree twice. However, they have a few ties that might keep them down.
Braintree might come out on top with points despite losing to Needham twice
          The rest are well below

The new Weymouth tradition of backing into the playoffs when your final opponent plays their freshman squad and gifts you your 20th point should continue.

If any team plays there freshmen squad and gifts weymouth any points is a poorly coached team. If I am Braintree or BC High or any team in the south i would want to see Weymouth not even reach the tournament. The Weymouth team this year is so hit or miss they could lose to a team like quincy but also then beat a Needham or Silver Lake who are slotted to be top 4 teams. Braintree and BC High should be looking to put the Nail in the coffin.

Some things still at stake with league play ending tomorrow
Braintree needs a win for a chance at league champion
Needham needs a win to clinch league champion
Weymouth qualifies for tourney with at least a tie
Brookline could tie Braintree for 2nd with a win
Framingham could rise to tie for 3rd with a win
All tourney qualifiers help their positions with wins

It feels like some of the league's teams will have a good tournament run (a "run" defined here as winning at least 2 games). History suggests that you can't pick which team or teams will have that experience, though. So much depends on getting the breaks, tieing and advancing on penalties, etc.
Brookline, Framingham, Needham - all have a skilled attacker who can beat a back 1v1, get off a quality shot, and pick a corner. All obvious things a good scorer needs, but many teams lack one. A team can score and win without a quality attacker, but their odds are lower.
Braintree - they have a lot of beef, but also speed, skill, long throws and fouling. Especially for teams that haven't played them, they are a challenge.
Wellesley, Weymouth - They've managed ties just this week against some of the teams above, showing they belong. Need to be well organized to succeed.
Walpole - they go to D2, so let's break down their results D1/D2: vs D1 teams, they are 2-1-7, scoring just 10 goals while allowing a mere 8. Probably fair to say that, if in D1, they would deserve to be an away team in the first round, and capable of pulling an upset. Against D2/3, Walpole is 6-1-0 with Bishop Feehan left to play, scoring 20 goals while allowing 6. The difference seems apparent: their just-clear-it defense is effective against everyone, but it's much easier to score against D2/3 competition. So in D2, on their merit they deserve to be among the best (top 4) seeds, but will probably be listed lower. It will take a very good opponent and/or some bad luck to knock them out.

Yeah, they'll be ranked lower, EMass Soccer is strictly by winning percentage with half a win and half a loss for a tie. D3 and D4 have some strange matchups where you often get a #15 from a good league against a terrible #2 team and so forth.

BSC was full of ties this year. Framingham coach got recognized last night for making the state coaches Hall of Fame, the presenter mentioned his 30 + year record that included 125 ties....coach could be over heard saying "yeah, and they were all this season"

Good story. Do you think Framingham deserved better this year? They were a favorite of many coming into the season, and with so many ties, you could say they've underperformed a bit in the regular season. But, the quality of their teamwork seems improved this year, so they could well upset some better-seeded teams in the tournament.

I personally think Framingham was over-hyped this year, Yes still a good team but nothing like the dominate team of years past. Could I see Framingham and Brookline both making runs to a Semi-Final in the North? Absolutely. They both have the potential to beat anyone and both have a dynamic Striker. The one thing about Brookline and Framingham is most teams in the north haven't played again them yet and likely don't have too much information on them come tournament time. So I think they'll both have at least 1 good upset.

For all the teams that are done already, they have a chance to scout possible opponents who still have a game left. Take advantage of the scouting opportunity!
