USYS has about 3 or 4 years left.
I'm not a huge fan of ODP but that is just pure hatin. There are multiple pathways to college and beyond. ODP is a pathway and it was a slick video. Chill out. Any time you can bring good coaches an players together it is a good thing.

Yes making inter regional is a great accomplishment.
Glad to see Kathy putting that CJSA cash horde to good use. Burn it while you can get away with it.

Anybody ever wonder why you have never seen her at any CT ODP event but when there is an excuse to fly to Florida in winter... Yah.

Just one (of many) reason 80% of the top players in CT don't bother with ODP anymore.

When the last time JB did something with ODP at the state level? ODP was a pathway maybe had some flaws but still a great pathway for any great players. Now it is sham to collect money. Have you seen what they are doing on the boys side. This fall they had tryouts for 2005 boys really? The players at the younger ages may be decent players but it's not a collection of the best of the best in the state.

Not trying to take anything away from the players that made to the regional level they all worked hard and are no doubt great players. It's the future that is clearly going to be a problem. Will ODP invite a player like JB if she never did odp. Players at US club soccer clubs will be sent to ID2 events directly by there club many ECNL clubs discourage ODP participation. mass ODP is devoid of top ECNL club players. CT is a few years behind in this transition process but it's already started. I don't think it's pure hate but frustration that those in charge did not do more to stem the tide. CJSA rebuffed club soccer for years and now the are left outside in the club. Legacy aspects of ODP one of the few things they get to be prideful about. But if you look at the younger ages you know it's a matter time before it become irrelevant at the elite level.

I love idea of multiple pathways but you have to have substance and vision and plan. CJSA is a very stuck in the mud reactive organization. The video is step in the right direction but the really change is at the state level and that takes a lot work and effort than hiring a fancy video company to produce couple videos.

That's a player. The prior post makes it seem like JB is a coach or administrator. Why would any player have an obligation to do anything with the state ODP program? Those are her own politics to manage.

The point is player like JB will no longer use state ODP as a vehicle. She is a legacy of ODP several years ago. The level of play has gone down in the state that I doubt she does any training with the state ODP. She has no obligation but it's telling not of her but the state of the state ODP.

She may be the last great player out of CT to come out of state CJSA state run ODP.

                    Incorrect. You are beyond ignorant.

USYSA/ODP revamping, ECNL/Npl/id2 not only way to get exposure.

Did you see the video, did you see the college coaches, the us national team scouts? That's not at an ECNL showcase. It's an ODP interregional event. Eat some humble pie today you will feel better soon.

It seems like the better players, whether identified or not, do not return to the state program. There is too much conflict with their club schedule and the program is not of sufficient quality to justify it the effort and expense. It is very costly at the state level and gets 5x-10x as expensive after that. Some people cannot afford to even continue up the ladder even if they could make the scheduling work.

Not sure why people think the best players left ODP. It's just not the case. There are players there that are on ECNL/NPL also.

Any player in good standing with ODP can attend Rider camp in summer where inter regional team is chosen ... Your and my kid can do it too

Why would JB need to train with CT ODP

ODP is to youth soccer as the conestoga wagon is to transportation.

You have to admit it's partially true. The truly elite kids are only in ODP to make Region 1. CT ODP has diminished clout in Region 1, probably from the turnover it's seen recently in leadership and coaching. So we have a smaller representation in Region 1, but possibly proportional. But ODP peeps are the first ones to say aloud that they are NOT a training asset, but rather an identification process. Anyone of FSA/CFC/OW/YU could beat the CT ODP team. That wouldn't be possible if all the best players were playing ODP. As someone just pointed out, "there is too much conflict with their club schedule and the program is not of sufficient quality to justify it the effort and expense." That being said, there are more clubs than just FSA/CFC/OW/YU and early on, this is the only way the best players get to know each other and bond. But... all/most of the destination clubs are doing a better job at getting exposure than ODP currently.

Of course there are some ECNL and NPL players still doing ODP. Of course there are some top players who remain with ODP. The problem is that ODP needs to attract and retain a high proportion of the best players. It neither attracts not retains a majority of the best players anymore. As someone already noted, if CT ODP was a club its teams would be #5 or #6 in the state. ID programs can't operate like that.
