It is definitely self-serving for LGS and GPS to be running those trips but the flip side is that most everyone knows what they are getting into and the trips that aren’t just excursions (the tournaments the select and “national” teams play in) are legit and competitions the local club teams would never be invited to. It benefits all parties. The implication that GPS families are being scammed is funny. Most don’t genuinely believe their children have a chance to play for FC Bayern academy based on an ID camp. Maybe if they have dual citizenship, or something, but that’s not common.

Unless GPS Oregon becomes a non-profit or US Club Soccer establishes another league in Oregon, they are going to struggle. Plain and simple.

How are the gOS teams doing? How many teams did they end up with after their main recruiter left?

          Who do they register with

Who does GPS register with for OYSA? It was Hillsboro SC then IFC Newberg.

GPS registers with Hillsboro. They also sell them uniforms and coaching programs.

GPS pulled out of Newberg for business strategy reasons.

They will have 2 more teams when the 03 girls and boys come back from school soccer.

                Four teams total.

How many did they have last year?

Did Jorge take the 03 girls to ADF?

There are five or six more teams for Winter. The two 03 girls teams have like 22 players each though (money grab)! The top 03s/04 girls on the “B” team all just left and are at Thorns or winter training elsewhere now. Quite a few top 03s rumored to leave for DA or ECNL in the spring.

No one is leaving in the spring. Unless someone is desperate (CU) they wouldn’t take them because their season is underway.

Movement in late winter. Why play oysa Premiere and meaningless games in Seattle against third tier teams when you could be playing better soccer in ecnl against second tier teams for the same amt of $$??

I would. FWRL, one weekend in Seattle. National League, great competition...One weekend in NC, one weekend in Vegas, with a chance to play for the USYA Championship in Dallas again. Not traveling every other weekend, good competition, much less money.

Fine and dandy. But stop selling it as a top level experience.

Very few top clubs, until nationals. And that is now arguable.

Very few college coaches at events, relative to DA and ECNL showcases.

What do you know about any of these events and the teams?
Lots of college coaches at National League events and Nationals.
I know plenty of ECNL girls who are getting looks from the same colleges my kid is talking to.

I can tell you right now that it doesn’t matter what league you play in.

College KNOW there are crap kids in Ecnl crap kids in da crap kids in USYS.

USYS kids are committing while Ecnl kids won’t make it to a community college

Da kids are going to d3 schools while a Ecnl doesn’t have anything better.

Ecnl kids will commit early while da kid will get a better offer because they waited.

If you seriously think your commitment chances go up regarding the league you play in your are utterly lost.

Ecnl is third tier at this point. The majority of teams are second and third teams. The events a joke. Flying to New Jersey to get cancelled or play bad teams is a joke. College recruitment isn’t any better than USYS national league or da

USYS is dilluted but with 1k teams it’s easy to be. Top 25 teams in USYS are better than anything in Oregon and all have more college commits than teams from Oregon.

Da is decent but colleges know that the teams are inconsistent and the thorns are only getting college commits that have come from somewhere else and have NOT shown they can out commit or out develop fc Portland Ecnl cu Ecnl or top USYS teams.
