Too bad you didn't detail the fiscal payouts of 14 full rides at 335 D1 schools.

Less interest in the sport than males, less participation--yet millions more in athletic aid. Stunning stuff. Thanks for sharing so somewhat recent data.
14 per team is the max as determined by the conferences. It doesn’t mean that the schools award 14 full rides. The same thing happens on the guys’ side.

Heads up. Title IX is not women's v men's soccer. It's women's soccer v men's sports per school. Whoa.

Just the facts, men's programs vs women's programs in soccer are mind blowing.

This was not the intent of Title IX, some tweaking left I imagine.

More like a welfare handout to an unqualified & disinterested minority.

His poor son isn’t very good. Maybe he should encourage him to play a popular men’s sport like football.

Actually his daughter is a decent JV HS player with a shot of making Varsity this fall as a senior and he doesn't want her to accept a scholarship offer for soccer at a remote school that is desperate for any level of player, he would rather she just attend a quality school she has accepted to and play intramural soccer. Makes sense. Title IX unintended consequences or in this case decisions. It's crazy.

I'm not the OP but here are the facts on this front.

14 Full ride max, not every school has it but many do.

                    334 D1 Schools
                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...occer_programs

9.9 Full ride max, so have it many don't

                    205 D1 Schools
                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...occer_programs

Very interesting, the guy was spot on.

Yes CU has quite a few of these JV players rising to great heights.

Yes, plenty of scholarships available for men if they can play football or basketball or even baseball. Lacrosse is starting to really take off in popularity as well. Football is your best bet for a men’s sports scholy. Or his son could just go pro if he’s good at soccer but not smart enough for academic money.

Schools need to be smarter on how they administer Title iX, this comparison is both shocking and embarassing.

Yes, men’s football gets 85 full scholarships. Basketball gets 13. Baseball 11.7. Even men’s lacrosse gets 12.6. Tons of options for the male athlete. Despite not bringing in any revenue or the top athletes like football, men’s soccer still gets 9.9 full scholarships per college. If your son can’t find a scholarship somewhere, he wasn’t cut out for sports. Try academics as there is a ton more merit aid for high academics.

Your comment is vague and judgemental. A Wikipedia list of schools (2017 women, 201 men) is a generality and doesn't explain how each and every school "adminsters Title IX."

                                No rhyme or reason
The allocation of women's scholarships bears little relation to the popularity
                                of various sports.
