No college coaches are scouting state cup. The team would have been better off not playing state cup and playing tournaments instead. Recruiting for college in the fall is done as well.

U19 is seniors having a little fun until the end.
U18 is mostly 2000 seniors (Jan - August 2000 birthdays) and juniors with fall birthdays, and they should be doing tournaments in addition because juniors can still be recruited to play in college.
U17 is mostly 2001 juniors with fall birthday sophmores.

        State Cup

Huge scores at many games. Are the teams that far apart in talent level?
Why does FYSA allow these teams to play at this level? Just doesn't seem right.

LMAO. Yeah, FYSA is all about the competition and not the $900 tournament fee. Allow these teams to play? That's a good one.

Many teams from round 1 never won a single game, not one game yet they advanced to round 2. Now these same teams are getting blown away by massive scores. Please explain what is going on? They should have never made it out of round 1. That just seems like a huge waste of time, money and a big risk of injury to the players involved. These teams should not be playing in round 2.

            Someone please explain!! FYSA? Anyone

$900 per team. What is there to explain?

Valid point. But this is State Cup. I remember when State Cup was the most important tournament for the entire year. Now its like a hand full of competitive teams and the rest are fill in to make sure there are enough games to be played so you can actually have different rounds.
U19 can literally go right to round of 16, no reason for round 1 and round 2. Plus many teams like Clay County (which is a solid team) from last weekend have limited players (7). That team had 7 players total that played 90 mins no subs and still were able to keep the score to just 3-0. Compared to other games where the score was 6-0, 10-0, 13-2, etc.

                  Are you serious!!!!

I remember when bread was a nickel per loaf. We used to walk in the snow up hill to get it and be glad that we could.

Welcome to the 21st century where adults take full monetary advantage of children and their parents.

State Cup is crap. Accept it.

Another thing to note about FYSA and state cup.
They charge $900 for rec level play, they don't provide water on the side lines and this weekend they did not even bother to put up the free Publix pop up canopies. What are you getting for this $900. The teams that your playing are not even supposed to be on the field in most cases.

It's really a horrible tournament for ay kid that is also trying to get college exposure. FYSA has the arrogance to think that State Cup is the only important or valuable thing on the schedule in the Spring.

All of these weekends on the calendar devoted to State Cup directly conflict with events that actually matter. Every other tournament can settle a four team bracket in a weekend but FYSA needs two weekends just to identify the top 3 of 4 teams in a bracket (1st round). That's why teams are still getting beat 10-2 and 13-2 in the 2nd round, which also takes two separate weekends to settle. Really, a drive to Auburndale for one game? This is abusive.

For sure round 1 and round 2 games should never have taken place. Should just go straight to round of 16. What a waste of time driving up and back to Auburndale.
