Top teams a split across the country. Maybe 50% are in ECNL.

Why would the timbers want to run youth girls soccer? There is no upside for them.

Why does a professional club charge for it's Academy? Because they can.


There are some really good teams in the US Club leagues & USYS Leagues. The top shelf of clubs are part of the DA.



Westside took over the admin of the Thorns. Why? Ask Peregrine.

Is Eastside involved with Thorns? They have a big Eastside Thorns sign at their place.

Why are they charging $4,000 or so per year when they only charge boys $500 per year? That doesn't seem fair.

Aren't all the best teams in ECNL anyway?

Did the Timbers dump the thorns on Westside this year? Why?

When the USDA kicked off last year for girsl at this time last year, 60 clubs were accepted and they sent their top teams to the DA.

Nearly all the top clubs came directly from the US Club girls league (ECNL) the others came from USYS leagues + 9 NWSL Academies.

The US Club league has neighborhood clubs like FC Portland & CU, but sadly no clubs from Oregon were accepted into the DA.

Are you trying to say our neighborhood clubs have more going for them than the NWSL Thorns Academy?

Peregrine has the potential to actually make money selling male players to Euro clubs. There is no money in the women's game so why would they subsidize it?

Clubs applied for the DA, both little boys DA and girls Big DA. A little DA was formed for boys with local clubs, but none of them were accepted into the girls Big DA. It happens.

No clubs in Oregon applied for the GDA. They are all way too smart to get sucked into that debacle. Thornz, on the other hand, aren't all that smart.

4k covers player club fees including travel. Parents are not required to travel, thats a personal choice.

4k covers player club fees including travel. Parents are not required to travel, thats a personal choice.

$4K covers travel in the Thornz Asylum windowless panel van from the '70s. Flying anywhere is extra and since the Thornz only play 1 game per weekend and must fly 15+ times per year to other rec-league clubs like Burlingame it gets pretty spendy.

Peregrine oddly enough has a better chance of selling a female player to a euro club than ever selling a male player abroad. Truth stranger than fiction.

There is no coaching or development in Oregon club soccer so the DA at least gives the talented kids a chance of being developed and professional coaching.
