    don't blame FSL

The people who are running FSL were the ones that started it. There has been thousands of volunteer hours put in by these men who get it and understand what needs to be done. They are good guys and know what they are doing!! Why are you all complaining about them? If it wasn't for them there would be no State League. However, with this said, the REAL problem this year could be FLUGSA! They have all new officers with a bunch of soccer moms running the show. (The President's kid is playing on her 6th team in seven years. That shows stability!) I say let FSL run the show and the FLUGSA Soccer Moms run their own little league and make sure people are bringing snacks to the games. They also have some VERY misleading information on their website.
FLUGSA and FSL announce the second year of FLUGSL.
This is a league to qualify teams for State Cup competition.
Please click on www.fslsoccer.com for an application.
The league IS NOT a "league to qualify teams for State Cup Competition!" There currently is no league set up for this. Why the misleading info??

All sanctioned leagues qualify teams for State Cup, that is a rule. You must play a minimum of four league games in a league sanctioned by FYSA to be eligible for SC. So they are not misstating anything.

The fact is the FSL was started (and yes a lot of volunteer time has been put in) as a means for the top teams in the State to have a sanctioned league that would only take the best of the best. FSL, whether through its agreement with FLUGSA or some reason else, has strayed from that ideal. By taking 20 teams in certain age groups, the quality suffers. As far as those that complain about the travel - the top 10 teams in the state are not located in a single geography. The FSL (again in theory) was the local equivalent of the R3 League, where you have to be the best, but you are willing to travel to play just the best.

For those that want a premier league, my solution is to go back to your roots and play only a senior season. The league becomes invite only. You invite all of the final eight SC teams from the year before, if any team says no, you fill by rankings from final 16 State Cup teams until you get just eight teams, play each team once and then HS season starts. When the FSL began, they only offered one or two divisions. The growth of the league has dilluted it from its original goal.

FSL is good idea that is being changed from what it was intended to be, into a profit source for someone. How else do you explain the fact that nearly anyone who applied has been accepted?

If you want a real elite class, state-wide league, then have one. The formula has been debated here over and over and it seems that maybe the top eight from each half of the state should be let in.

There is no state qualifying league for the FYSA State Cup, this is just an advertising trick to make the FSL seem more prestigious than it really is.

FYSA would be better served to force their sanctioned leagues to create real divisions-

Elite for State Cup teams- (and make sure they don't drop down to Region Cup regardless of their league record)

Premier for Region / Presidents Cup teams

Competitive for new or lesser teams (like travelling rec teams)

You could even break the Competitive into C and D brackets based on skill levels.

There would really be no need for the FSL, except for more diversity of competition, if FYSA adopted mandatory protocols.

It is ridiculous that a team can declare themselves State Cup, and then play Region Cup instead.

and you have balls? or brains for that matter??? FSL is not the problem. the problem is when the FLUGSA peabrains got involved and the politics became more important than the kids and the game. the best thing that could happen to the FSL is to permit the original people to regain control and make ALL the decisions. get the FLUGSA idiots out of the picture and things will return to sanity and proper purpose!

Maybe they are nice guys and don't want anyone left out. Volunteers think that way.

So for doing something that is nice, they get slapped in the face.

                Two things:

While not a state qualifying league, you must play in a league sanctioned by FYSA to be allowed to play in State Cup, so in essence all leagues are qualifying leagues.

Teams that are coded with SC numbers i.e. 701 for boys and 711 for girls have some advantages with registration error messages over teams coded for Region Level i.e. 721 for boys and 731 for girls. The computer puts more protection for SC coded teams when roster moves are made, etc. The fact is some teams may intend to play SC in August and the reality is by year-end they are best suited for Region Cup. You cannot hold a team to a committed level of year-end tournament play when registration and team coding are done July 15th.

FYSA cannot label leagues at certain levels. Play in a local league (hopefully one with divisions), play-up if you are that good. The top ten in the state play in a single division State League and the SC Champs and runner-ups play in R3PL. The only problem is the FSL was to be a State Level League where only final 16 SC teams apply - it has changed into more of a free for all.

The bottomline is the people running FSL should have stuck to what they put on their website! Criteria for acceptance, a application deadline, 16 team max, north south divsions. There are only two reasons why the would change this at the last minute: 1) Money, or (2) pressure from clubs. The fact thatey initially "accepted" and posted 16 teams in U15g, then the next day reposted that they had now accepted all 20 teams, tells me that thye bent to pressure from some of the big clubs (rush).

so it appears as though these guys disregarded their rules to appease some big clubs and make a few bucks. if so, thats is exactly the wrong type of people u want running any league.....and these guys screwed up royally.

Other state organizations do it, why not FYSA? In fact, most every other state has statewide sanctioned leagues for division 1 (our State Cup) and division 2 (our Region / Presidents Cup).

To say that FYSA cannot put mandates on their sanctioned leagues is not accurate. FYSA can, but they won't.

Please learn your ABC before you talk garbage.
FYSA can not mandate a league what to do unless the league does not follow the established rules stated on the affiliation and\or FYSA rules.
All leagues in Florida are associates members and they only run leagues for FYSA affiliate members.
Few years ago FYSA tried to bring a STATE league where the teams will qualify for estate cup and the associate members (the leagues) voted down because FYSA was getting into their business.
