Anyone think the reason why there is a new league and new clubs every few years is because here in the US we don’t actually care about developing soccer players. It’s all about money. The whole Promo-Rel thing for youth soccer is an arms race to acquire the best talent so as to win and advance to the highest tiers, allowing clubs to say they are the best at development, when in reality they did zero development, just aggregated talent. It’s BS and here we are in 2020 having the same stupid debate about a new league.
In true European academies, the promotion/relegation happens almost weekly. It’s called “you (one kid) play and you (other kid) sit on the bench” based on that week’s training performance and how they did in the last match. Whole teams don’t rise and fall during development, only individual players do. They don’t even have the concept of a fixed team at the younger ages; they are all part of a player pool that gets to play based on individual performance.

Try that here where the parents, and not the club, are footing the majority of the bill!

European style academies are designed to find pros and for the kids that don't make it, it’s a brutal system. Hopefully that’s the space the MLS academy teams fill and they actually put the resources into scouting youth leagues to find the top kids to play on those teams, and have a residential program. However, for the vast majority of kids an academy system doesn’t work and is cost prohibitive on that large of a scale.

There isn’t enough $ in women’s professional soccer for a funded academy system to be feasible.

The problem is all coaches think they know best. It's a job for them and not a passion.

Took this from another thread - need to disagree with you:

CCL has 3 ways to the regional and national platform
          - USYS National Conference manages by EDP
          - USYS League Championship pathways via league play
          - USYS State Cup

          NECSL has one

CCL has a better pathway than any league in the region

They absolutely have the opportunity - better than if they played in the NECSL

The only difference between nep and ccl at this point, is the price tag. You are fooling yourself, if you think that nep is anything special. It’s entry level club soccer.

We all agree - price is the same once you add referee expenses

What matters is who you’re playing against.
