FWIW a friend of a friend recently joined an mls organization (rapids if it matters) and said the mls academy plan is a mess and there’s very little motivation and organization to make it happen. He said it will be a mess this year (maybe up and running by January. Maybe). If they play this fall it won’t be a league just games and showcase weekends with only mls teams. Not motivated to go play a league that will have teams that were bottom feeder DA teams and/or weren’t even DA.

Official invites from the MLS went out to the invited clubs on Friday or over the weekend. The announcement is coming very soon, but they may be waiting to get all of the acceptances before they release the full list. It’s a done deal. League games will start the weekend after Labor Day. Pre-season scrimmages are being set up already.

If true, what do you do if your kid is a core player on NEFC or Valeo? ECNL/NPL are clearly a step or two below the former DA league. Decisions decisions...

Actually not fake news, sorry you are on the outside looking in. The clubs that were invited to the MLS league received formal notice inviting them to the league. Now all they are working out is if there will be a u16 age group or if they will still combine with the u17s.

And Valeo and NEFC received their invitations. No U16s. Again you are missed informed by your leadership group.

So you're saying Valeo and NEFC will be in the new MLS league?

Incorrect. Valeo and NEFC willingly chose to be feeder programs for the Revs. There is no point including them in the league at the older ages when the Revs are hoping to funnel talent.

Good Point! Still don't understand why both Valeo and NEFC had been trying to get full DA if this is indeed the case. Also, why would they have been invited to the new league?

If prior post is correct, have them tryout with Bolts and Seacoast. Seacoast may be a hike though depending where you are in MA. Best bet would be to reach out to coaches directly with each club for a tryout.
