    Westside Timbers Again ??

The biggest problem is that the OYSA board is comprised of mental midgets with no spine or integrity.

The relevant problem is that the Timbers have a secret contract with OYSA to run the leagues that also gives away most decision power to the Timbers. So the Timbers get to set the rules. They get to violate all recruiting rules including recruiting rules around ODP. They also get to set when clubs can hold tryouts which lets them have DA and GDA tryouts ahead of club tryouts. This lets clubs like Westside Timbers hold tryouts before everyone else who then use that for recruiting into their club. It is all very unethical.
This whole thing smells like dirty finances. Someone needs to check into Westside Timbers, are they really a non-profit ?

      Academies aren't youth clubs, moron.

Thorns, maybe--it costs money for players.

Timbers Academy is a real academy. A bad one perhaps, but a real one. Unless your club is providing free training, quit whining about the Timbers getting to pick first, or poaching your talent. It makes you look like a tool. No matter which club you are from, the TA is a step up the pyramid from you. Deal with it--they aren't your competition, they are a different thing altogether. You should be honored if one of your kids moves up to the TA, not trying to hold them back so you have a better shot at state cup. Chances are they'll come back in a few years anyway.

Pull your head out. Many clubs run DA academies. It isn’t just MLS clubs.

Timbers outsourced the Thorns academy to Westside Timbers last year. This year the Timbers cut their subsidy which is why the cost is as high and higher than ECNL. The GDA is nothing more than an academy run by Westside Timbers.

The TA is and has always been nothing more than an MLS patch and hot air.

You misunderstand. I'm not defining "academy" to mean ("club/team in the DA program"). I'm defining "academy" to mean a "subsidized training program offered by a club, either to support a professional adult team, or in anticipation of receiving training compensation").

Westside, when they had DA, was not an academy. Nor was FC, UPDX/BSC, OPFC/Crossfire. Nor is ADF or any other local youth club.

The only thing that might qualify as an "academy" in the northwest that isn't associated with a pro (MLS or NWSL) team is Crossfire Premier. Everyone else in OR and WA is just a pay-to-play youth club.

And you can bet money that TA is better than any local youth club at any age group. The only possible exception to that was the 05s before this past season, when a rich guy bribed his kid and his kid's buddies onto the roster.

              Concerning

What is concerning is for profit Thorns out sourcing to non pro fit Westside who uses public subsided public parks.

The term "Academy" goes back to the Greeks; in English it certainly has had a connotation of for the wealthy. Not sure your arbitrary definition holds water or is meaningful.

You seem to really be about pay-to-play v. non pay-to-play.

Actually, the OYSA outsources the grunt work and admin of running their exclusive USYS sanctioned leagues, cups, ODP & RTC to (2) fired/let go former OYSA employees, MS & EL who GW moved into the Peregrine 'Shell' corporation years ago. What you modern day morons can't figure out is nothing has changed in the last decade, other than OYSA not getting paid in full for certain services they provide to the competitive membership. Instead, it's re directed to the Peregrine 'Shell' corporation and the lackey's that ran it for OYSA, guess what they still do the donkey work with the Peregrine overlords getting the proceeds/data instead of the OYSA.

MS & cohort EL have no Decision making authority in this comical restructure, in the end MP & GW are calling all the shots and these tools continue to serve as weak mouth pieces.

Having all the monies from the local clubs team registration fees, rtc & odp activities does indeed make this 'shell' corporation; Peregrine the ruling class for local club soccer.

It's good to be the King of Clubs, so say the 'Timbers Army'..

                  & so say You.

The Timbers do not have sole rights to leagues under OYSA in fact there are other youth leagues. The big clubs choose to associate themselves with the Timbers Thorns leagues.

The big clubs like Westside benefit from the relationship.

Get a clue. The leagues that matter are clearly branded as such. It’s a great deal for the Timbers really.... OYSA actually pays the Timbers to brand their leagues as Timbers/Thorns. Sheer brilliance by the Timbers and stupidity by OYSA.

Get a glue! The OPC made up of the eight big club made the first OPL. All that needs to happen now is the same eight clubs make a league in OYSA.

The governance model is completely different. US Club is about clubs having a say in soccer. OYSA follows the US Soccer model of ignorant jackholes making decisions and dictating. There is a reason everything US Soccer keeps failing.

With the failing U.S. 'club' SOCCER model as the fitting example.

They are going to play in OYSA?

Are all the older teams playing in OYSA too? That might be a good change.

Yes, they have been recruiting. That's what you get when you put King Connie in charge ;-)

Just another new club entering OYSA. Oh, dear/ Oregon soccer is so diluted.
