Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOf course it is. This was predicted last year when the Oregon DA collapsed--we'd have one year of unified OYSA, as the collapse happened too late for the other clubs to make any alternate arrangements, then the usual suspects, wanting to sell a patch to egotistical parents, would pull their A teams out of OYSA the following year and bolt off to an Oregon BECNL league.
Difference between that and OPL, I guess, is that it's mainly the premier teams, not every last team at the clubs. ECNL doesn't (at the current time) do B teams (by which I mean the second teams of most clubs), so those teams will stick around in OYSA, presumably, so this is less of a threat to OYSA's business model, especially if clubs dual-register their players (which many might do to maintain roster flexibility). Peregrine will get slightly less money assuming the BECNL teams don't do state cup, but given that the administration costs scale with the number of teams, I doubt this will hurt Merritt Paulsen's bottom line much.
Potentially a big impact on RTC/ODP, as I suspect BECNL clubs will steer their talented players to the US Club id2 program, especially if it promises to keep the Timbers' scouts away.
The interesting question is--which clubs? UPDX (the new FC), OPFC, and ADF are likely bets. THUSC might join as well; it's boys' program is starting to become respectable, especially at the younger ages. FC's boys program has fallen on hard times of late (zero state cups last year)--they might be tempted to join, but might not. As noted previously, part of the raison d'etre of this is to avoid road trips to Bend, so any non-metro clubs will probably be excluded (Why plane trips to showcases are OK, but car trips to central Oregon not OK, don't ask me). Latino clubs probably can't afford the showcase travel. SCA would probably love to be included, but they might not have enough of a history. Neighborhood clubs like LYS or HSC or AUSC or Thelo aren't likely to be invited either.
The wildcards would be PCU, Eastside, and of course Westside.

More info from the original posters source:
82 on current rosters. Seems like about 20 per year, if my math is right. How's your math?

Are you really that blind to this reality? Life aint fair. You need to move on and take the aid while it's available.

Unofficial totals
17 went D1, 4 went D2, 17 went D3, 38 went Junior College, and 17 went NAIA. There were a few colleges I have never heard of.
I think on the boys side 1 D1

This piece of garbage objective is to promote the narrative that little girls should stay at home and play soccer in their backyard so they don’t cost anything since every little Susan gets a scholarship if they want one.

You might want to get some serious help for your mental issues and paranoid delusions. Facts are facts and while the women get the honey for college soccer and men do not. it's a great learning lesson that things ain't fair. Take it and enjoy it, I say. Better to be lucky, than good.
