So much heresay and rumors when the only people who really know what happened were those involved. Obviously if what the boys did is true it's horrific and no doubt criminal. But as a human being, coach or parent, would you want them thrown into the Colombian justice system? No easy answers.
As for the club, coaches can't supervise dozens of kids at all times despite best intentions to try and do so. There have been incidents with drinking and pot with other clubs on trips. It's something parents should think about when they send their kids off on trips like this. But any cover by the club to Safe Sports, DA authorities etc is inexcusable. Adults involved shouldn't be allowed to be near kids again. Legally the club is under no obligation to address it publicly. Staying silent lets rumors fester, but addressing it just draws more attention to it. USDA might have told them not to say anything either.
