I read about Florida teams always getting crushed out of state on here.

Weston gda played against some pretty tough PA girls this weekend and the Weston girls actually did the crushing - the older girls 03 and 02-01 are an impressive bunch

The 04 and 05s held their own

So don’t believe everything (or even most) of what you read on TS

At least Weston doesn't have to travel to play NY Fury in a few weeks. Horrible club that just had numerous players suspended for playing HS ball this fall. Club owner told them it was ok. Same club that was in last place in the ECNL before they jumped into the welcoming arms of USSF.

I'd pump the breaks on "probably beat Top Hat" in a few weeks.

TH core team has been together and played together against top clubs (in showcases and playoffs) for years. They are seasoned and have tons of experience.

Weston has a strong roster, but have literally played 5 total games together. Would be a massive upset if they beat Top Hat.

It will be great experience either way and will help them down the road.

We do realize that GDA wasn't created to make great teams but rather produce great players that might someday help the US at the highest levels right? It's not like women on the national teams come from the same academies.

So really, who cares who wins. This is not youth soccer trophy hunting.

So really, who cares who wins. This is not youth soccer trophy hunting.

Wins - losses is the favorite metric to judge “success” on Talking Soccer and unfortunately by most parents.

Tactical and technical Development along with improved fitness and soccer IQ are harder to quantify and brag about.

Understand, the two older PA Classics teams lost all their player to high school soccer and to start with are a newer GDA and just not that good yet. Once the girls PA Classics were committed to college they left and went back to high school soccer. The 10-0 score was against kids that were just filling roster spots, much like what happen with SFFA last year. Cedar Stars are also not a very good GDA program. If you got those results vs. quality clubs it would be a different story. Penn Fusion are a good GDA, not great, but good. Look at the results between Tophat and Penn Fusion, all tight games. The GDA in the northeast is a mess, and a number of the better clubs left the GDA and went back to the ECNL. This is not a knock on Weston but the teams you played tend to finish at the bottom of the NE GDA conference.

You are right that coaching is what matters most, especially in DA where there's fewer games. However, not all GDA coaching is good. Certainly not all GDA competition is good. There's good and bad in ECNL as well. It's incredibly localized - who has the best coaching and fit for your player. Both leagues have crazy travel and expense but yet still offer great college exposure. Coaches don't shop the badges or teams, but the talent
