Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYou really need to adjust your expectations. There are boys applying to ivies with 4.0/1450 who are better soccer players than your son. If your son was on USMNT u17 team with 3.6/1150 he would not be in the mix for ivies or even NESCAC schools. Coaches can support solid (slightly below standard) candidates if they are exceptional players. It's shocking to see so many parents with no real understanding of the entire process and expect coaches to pull strings for their child when there is no chance of that happening.

Can I just say that I am really enjoying this thread, it is helpful, before our resident troll makes his appearance?

And there are very good to elite D1s that would take a 3.6/1150 U17 USMNT kid. Now the OP didn't make such a claim so he should listen carefully to the advice of getting in somewhere way over your kid's head may not be the smartest move.

Top NESCAC I don't think that would work. You need to be a straight A student and a top half of the team player. More reasonable D3 yes. Is her highschool very competitive? That can make a difference.

For top NESCAC?
Straight A's
SAT in the average range for the school
ECNL/DA/NPL starter who plays the whole game and is clearly a top player on the team, these are kids who a step down from a D1 player. So if the D1 player is the gatorade player of the year, the NESCAC girls are her teammates.
