There is a reason that so many league and state championships are won by small catholic schools around CT and every other state. East Catholic, Immaculate, Trinity, St Joes, Notre Dame, Fairfield Prep, and the list goes on. For these schools, they are not limited to 1 town, they can recruit players/students from as far as 25 miles away -- that gives a really big player pool.
    Cath schools have no money
where do all these scholarships come from?
they have financial aid- but you pay that back

You are correct - many are barely holding on as is so handing out $ just isn't in the budget. Boards and the head of school decide how much FA they have to give out each year. For most school even FA income limits are incredibly low. They don't give athletic money. Families that can afford pricey club soccer will not qualify for FA.

Here's the deal-they have sponsors who donate money and that money goes to the kid based on them playing the sport at the school. Combine it with fa and the parents only have to contribute a little. Those players aren't paying to pay club soccer.

Come on. Not everyone is a quality player that's getting comp'd by the school or a club. I can attest first hand via family there your income has to be very low to qualify for financial aid. Catholic schools are counting every penny. And who is spotting a soccer player's tuition? This isn't big time football or basketball but girl's soccer.

So they don’t give scholarships? Thanks

Go online and look at the scholarships they offer -- they are there.

that's how they pull poor kids from cities who are strong athletes.

                    they have academic
and need based- but that only covers half at most- so you are saying that a good athlete that wants to attend gets to pay 7-8K for the honor?
                    yea not really a draw

A good athlete/good student has other options besides Immaculate. And not every town and school district in the area is exactly "impoverished" either. You are right that getting aid there is very challenging. The parents that can cover the difference probably won't qualify for much FA to begin with

With one game left IHS is 7-5-4. So much for dominating the SWC

Is this his first year in a very long time without a child on the team to do everything for him?

Just like every other podunk Connecticut High School. Dosent matter if its LL, L, or prep. They all suck compared to California, Texas, Virginia and Florida High School soccer. So get off your high horse.
