More training for those who chose soccer is the only solution. Whether that's at an academy, school yard, or alone in the backyard, it's the time on the ball that's difference between the US and the soccer powers.

Locally, our academy is doing a lot of things right. Everything is there for a kid to develop into a pro player if they have the ceiling and will work hard enough on their own to achieve it.
Don’t try to twist, the better athletes for the most part have not spent excessive time with soccer. Those that get it all agree practice and time is required in any endeavor to be elite. If you have subpar spending a bunch of time you still have subpar. I am sorry it hurts your little soccer feelings but it is what it is....

If you can't swing that much you aren't in play.
      Ecnl is 8-9k a year.

A top USYS travel team is 5-6

      Who lied to you?

Ecnl is a waste and a near scam.

USYS is inconsistent based on where you play

And the thorns don’t have any team that is better than the top USYS or Ecnl teams in Oregon.

        It’s a value but it’s cheap for a reason

The problem isn't the pool of athletes, it's what is done with that pool. That's on the coaches, parents, and professional organizations in Oregon. Far, far too many players show up at 12 to TA and are athletically capable but deficient in soccer IQ and technique.

No one sits around and thinks "Oh if only these players were more athletic." Coming on a forum and continually insisting that athleticism would solve the problem won't make it so.

In fact, if I had to guess, this is likely a parent whose son chose a different sport (probably lacrosse). Can't imagine any other reason why you'd cling to something that no one who works in this sport at a serious level believes.

if your are ignorant enough to believe we have any platform that could be called professional club/training for kiddo soccer in the area, that's on you. Sorry.

Forgot about the realities of what type of athletes this afterthought sport nets.

Oregon's drought on talent coincided with Timbers DA starting date, coupled with an over populated club daycare landscape. Not to mention more and more acronyms and alphabet soup leagues. All created to give a living wage to ostensibly afternoon care providers. Who have no business or body of work that backs up any notion they know how to train or coach the game.

          Results don't lie.

ECNL is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Thorns is expensive for what you get.

The number one problem in US soccer is that we struggle to get elite atheletes. We get the leftovers from football, basketball and even baseball. I don’t care how smart or technical you are, if someone else is faster than you, you will struggle.

The best players in the world? Every single one of them is set apart my their speed.

At CU & FC they have no funding to offset their insane travel in a decimated 'league'.

NWSL Thorns DA has subsidy to offset their crazy travel and no recreational HS Soccer allowed.

Club soccer is the Pay to travel model, DA Thorns covers travel which is a big help.

Oh great. The ECNL-Thorns parents have arrived to take over another thread.

You are assuming it is parents - think it is coaches.

GDA is only $4,000.00 per year but only average quality.

Well? The crickets have shown their face. Ignore the obvious point that contradicts your conspiracy theory , post something of no releavance to deflect and then come back to it 10 posts later

Incredible that you can still find people who believe better athletes will solve US soccer's problems.

Do you people not get that American soccer players already have a reputation for extremem athleticism? What about that do you not get?

It’s mentality like yours that keeps US soccer in the crapper.
