New club forming in Danbury - Hat City FC

A new club, Hat City FC, will soon be forming in Danbury. More details will be emerging soon.

A club spokesperson has stated "the goal of Hat City FC is to develop players from the beginning, retain them, and then have them move on to the next level, whatever that level might be. It may be college, professional soccer, coaching others or, for some, making the high school team. We are anticipating that we will be an ECNL club on both the boys and girls side."

This is a joke right? The ECNL just announced that they are adding any additional clubs around the country on the girl’s side. Maybe the boys.

So much BS in that statement you can't even unpack it all. Give them 5 years and see if they're even still around let alone in a higher level league. It's just another club in an already overcrowded landscape.

Should have known. No good soccer has been played in Danbury that doesn’t involve two trash cans as goals since the 70s. With all the Latinos in Danbury, you would think one player would emerge every decade at a minimum

Club could do well but why would JS compete with Rush

I've heard about this same thing. I'm pretty sure it's legit.

Because JS has to hedge his bets. His branch close to Danbury has collapsed and his DOC there has left for Everton (Inter FC). Families running from this branch as fast as they can. JS also lost his DOC out of Wilton to AC Connecticut. That branch is also heading down the tubes quickly. It’s only a matter of time....

Wilton Rush was probably the longest success story he's had, but wouldn't be surprise if it's collapsing either. Danbury is a mistake - AC has established a very strong foothold there.

Big numbers at yesterday’s try outs. I would say more than fsa had. I wish John much success. He gets a bad rap. Was a great goalie at UConn, a very good coach and motivator at both club and he level and as a club owner, he put his all into making the club a success.

                          Signed, JS
He's had multiple failures. Multiple. Being a former players is no indication whatsoever of being a good coach or club owner. And how many show up doesn't matter at all - it's who shows up. At this point all the better talent locked into teams two months ago.

Prince left for AC Connecticut. They also lost the guy that replaced Fil. Don’t know what his name was but he was in charge of branch up at Taft. He is going to Everton/Inter. The branch pretty much collapsed. They have a couple of teams left.
