There is an old saying about people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing. The revenue generated by women has been steadily growing - we've all heard about their jerseys being Nike's best selling item and the record numbers of viewers this world cup. The people who the price of everything will say - So what? The amount of revenue they generate is small compared to the men, so they should get paid less. The people who know the VALUE of things see a different picture - in the mens' team they see a bunch of ineffective, old, anemic losers who can't qualify for a world cup, let alone win one. The performance in the final of the Gold Cup is all you need to know about the present team and where it is headed. The people who recognize value as opposed to price will always believe the women's team is worth more - because they are winners. For those people its a simple equation Men's Team = losers. Women's team = winners. Who do you pay more? If you want to reward mediocrity, continue to pay the men more, but don't complain about the lack of value there.

This is what I don't get. Why should the women get more money? If Fifa only has 32 million to distribute for the womens world cup that is on sponsors not anyone else. Why not petition the sponsors to pay more for ads during womens games and make the pot bigger?
Just taking from the men for no reason other than, " well it sounds fair" is a stupid idea.
How about we make sure everyone in every job in the US makes the same? Its just fair afterall. Doesn't matter what someone is willing to pay for your services, we all need to be paid the same because it sounds nice and we can all sing kumbaya.
Grow up.

It’s a much more difficult job to play against professional male soccer players than playing against female professional soccer players.
Equal pay for equal jobs.
Good thing for the USWNT that they aren’t required to play against professional male soccer players seeing as they can’t beat 14 year old 8th Grade boys from Dallas.
Similar is not equal.
A Teachers Assistant does a similar job to a Teacher, but their pay isn’t equal.

The product is different. Women's soccer is like comparing a 500 mile car race where the women are driving 20 Ford Fiestas on a track where the men are driving 40 Ford GT's.
If women want equal pay then they must play an equal game. Men v. Women - winner take all.

When the USWNT play against men, then they will be doing the same job.

Both the men and women are getting their paycheck from US Soccer. The lawyers will be evaluating everything from revenue they generate in the US, health benefits, and deciding if US Soccer has been discriminating based on gender.

Yes one can argue that USMNT and USWNT players aren't doing the exact same job but the pay should be in alignment with the job responsibilities. One could also argue should the veteran Rappinoe and a newbie sub be paid the same salary. The question is should the men and women's salaries be more in alignment? Look at how many games they are expected to play throughout the year, practice requirements, travel, etc. They are both representing America on the big stage.

Teacher’s Assistants are on a totally different pay scale on a totally separate ratified contract than teachers.
They are officially classified in Florida as School Related Personal and are paid by the State of Florida through their county on the SRP pay scale.
Teachers are officially classified in Florida as School Instructional Personal and are paid by the State of Florida through their county on the Instructional pay scale on a separate ratified contract.
Similar jobs, different pay, different contract.
Also, the revenue that supports those contracts is not the Free Market. It’s government tax revenue.
Until women play men, it’s not the same job. There’s no debate.
11B Soldiers in Combat Zones are paid more than 11B soldiers in non combat zones. Same MOS, different jobs.
We should be debating paying them more, but the public and media thinks a child’s game is more important, but I digress.
Also, US Soccers Money is driven by the Free International Market collected and governed by FIFA. Revenue.
Men’s soccer makes more revenue than women’s soccer.
Make more revenue, and then you’ll make more in salary.
It’s that simple.

It is really unfair to even discriminate and make the women play on their own team. If we are really as WOKE as we claim, there should be one team, no gender distinction.
Women, Men, Trans, Bi, queer, they all play on the same team. I have a feeling the equal pay folks wouldn't like this ultimate form of equality very much.
