What is the choice of one child is not necessarily the choice of another.
Quit fretting over anyone that chooses to tryout for GDA. Others choose ECNL and others choose club.
Quoting the coach's perspective of how TA affected his 2011-2012 boy's high school team is not the same thing as the GDA program. The senior girls will play with their high school teams this year. It makes since since those players should know around July 1, 2017 if they will be signing NLIs on Feb 8, 2018. If they followed NCAA guidelines, they'll be fine.

Wise teacher & coach. Choose carefully. If your dd has a legitimate chance at the USWNT or a pro soccer career and simply doesn't care much about school academics or social life, then GDA might be a good fit. Otherwise, ecnl or local club travel team will be a good fit. Don't be fooled that any choice will get a girl to a different end point though. The NT talent player will end up there even if they play for a local travel team. The players destined for Beavers, Ducks, Portland State, UoP, Willamette U, etc will all end up at the same soccer endpoint even if they do ecnl or gda. Enjoy whichever path is chosen because everyone only gets one childhood.

The only downside is the lack of cross training which some experts think can lead to over use injuries.
Best part about GDA is that nobody cares about it so you can get better without worrying about people looking over your shoulder.

"California Thorns Hire St. Mary's Associate Head Coach Tina Estrada
The California Thorns are excited to announce an amazing addition to their coaching staff for the girls' Development Academy. Tina Estrada will be joining Brandi Chastain as the USDA prepares to launch the inaugural season this summer. Bringing on Coach Estrada is a continuation of our sincere commitment to hire the best coaches to develop players at the highest level and to mentor the Thorn girls both on and off of the field. Her experience at the college level and her focus on college recruiting will be an incredible asset to the girls in the program. In just her first season at Saint Mary's in 2015, Estrada quickly made her mark. She was named the NCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year!"
