More Oregon girls are playing at higher level colleges so dilution hasn’t been a problem. In fact, having more travel teams has increased exposure and commits.

It's simply a trickle down effect (btw fewer Oregon girls than ever are playing at the highest level colleges) Every year more & more colleges are fielding D1 & D2 Women's teams & Don't confuse this title ix expansion as a result of having more of the D1 talent at the local club, that's simply not the case. These D1 mid level & bottom teams have to dig deeper into the countries talent pool. Oregon's pond is quite shallow. It's like saying low unemployment is due to a highly skilled force. Which is hardly the case, we need low wage laborers more than ever, just like women's college soccer.

Oregon's club dilution and parity is sickening. Exposing below average Oregon players doesn't change their outcomes, they still end up at George Fox.

Quite a few have recently ended up at great colleges like Cal, AZ, UO, UP, OSU, Gonzaga, N.Dame, Swarthmore, USC, etc. And scores of others at other lesser schools but living their dream. Happy for all of them, including the ones who end up at Pacific and George Fox. No path is the same.

Well then build a club that attracts all of the best players and quit bitching about other people who care about the sport but don't have the same vision.

Also, make sure you are affiliated with the right league. It changes every two years so you got to stay on top of it. You don't want to have the best group of players and be trapped in a garbage league because then your valiant efforts will be worthless.

They did. It’s called the ECNL. You know, the league that has produced 75% of the USWNT and offered young female athletes unprecedented exposure to hundreds of colleges around the country. The same one that ALL the schools in the country will go to watch in January in Florida. And I do mean ALL.

The poster said build a club, not a fairytale kiddo league.

                  Last Years Flavor

ENCL nationally is becoming second tier to the DA, just a fact.

Oregon has a funny dynamic. We have a successful,if not the most successful) MLS and Woman's professional franchise in the USA. Sellout crowds profitable, MLS and woman's champions.

But this does not translate to a top tier youth development system. It never has. The state has produced some pro players but youth team accomplishments are few and far between compared to our MLS neighbors north, south and east of us.

For youth player advancement it might be better to play in second tier programs like the ECNL or USYS to attrack the NAIA, NJCC or lowered end D1 and D2 programs like Oregon where they are best suited to play.

I would imagine at the US Soccer DA showcase this weekend top D1 coaches are not going to flocking to watch the Timbers DA based on their record.

                    ECNL is first tier.
Elite girls across the country reject the DA rules cutting them out of high school.

Clearly they missed the mark. High school is important to a large percentage of girls. Elite talent doesn’t have to give up anything they don’t want to.

Didn’t the academy sign all their girls to the college of their choice? The academy is doing just fine. More will come watch academy and ecnl games than come to watch oysa games.

The u18/19 Thorns team is top or one of top teams in the state. The u16/17 and u15 teams would be mid-pack at best in neighborhood league. Most top players won’t switch to a worse team or give up high school to be on a worse team even if it’s cheaper.

Not sure why the thorns didn't just let girls play high school this year like they did last year. Live and learn.

The ones that stayed at thorns care more about basketball and are playing high school basketball and keep soccer with the pros.

Finally figuring out that they have to let kids play high school if they want to keep em around. Very wise move.
