New players still have to be given the 25% starts required by DA rules. No OW parents should be surprised by any of this unless they were blind. The writing was on the wall with BDA players and DA rules allow these additions to be made.

It's not new. BDA teams have done it for years. Girls' parens are finally figuring it out. It falls into two camps - they'll look the other way for the stud players they really want, or they'll take you if you have a check and they just need more bodies to help the bottom line.

But those players can't crack the CFCU ECNL rosters or they would be there already. So their next best option is OW GDA and OW is welcoming them with open arms and a bank deposit slip already made out for the check.
As another college coach, I agree with the above. The pace of play is fastest at ECNL, second fastest is GDA, thrid fastest....not even close so who cares.

Let's look at YU 2000 commits to start. Do we think these schools will push hard for players to move to GDA? UCONN might be the exception but that players isn't on this year's roster (typical Yankee). They aren't top programs. ECNL would certainly suffice and in this area would actually be preferred.

            Connecticut College
            Kenyon College

            Catholic University
            Post University (2)
            Wesleyan
            Uconn
            Delaware Valley University

FSA ECNL and NPL (mostly ECNL)

            University of Hartford 2018
            Merrimack College 2018
            Central Connecticut State University 2018
            St. John's University 2018
            Wesleyan University 2018
            Trinity College 2018
            Stonehill College 2018

If any YU or FSA players are bailing for OW it's because their recruiting options are more limited at their current clubs.

You are thinking about it wrong .... plenty of the "who cares" kids that are faster-paced and vastly better players than ECNL or GDA players and you just ruled out 98% of the pool. No wonder college soccer sucks .... you recruit players by teams they played on rather than individual skills. Shame on you .... you will not be employed at any one place for long periods of time. And by "employed" I don't mean volunteering as so many ACs do to show their sorry premier parents that they are "college coaches".

No, it is yet another way that placeholder parents fail to see their kids are not that good. While they have to abide by the letter of the law and pay full sticker price to secure a spot on a good team, they are easily and happily replaced when the better players return from doing whatever they want. Anyone that falls for that more than once is a fool and giving up a lot just to be a warm body on a team while the starters are off on their little fall escapades.
