so i think this deserves its own thread and is a really important issue. i think every penny spent on DA or youth soccer at current costs is justified if a family is not stretched to afford it. kids are having a very difficult time socializing in person in 2020. you have 8/9 year olds that cannot look you in the eye and have a conversation. this is not a small group of kids with social issues - it's a pretty large chunk of this generation. youth sports gives them an outlet for peer interaction that is not phone inter-mediated. if your family can afford it without getting stressed, it's important. the phone is changing kids before our eyes and changing us. not anti-tech at all - i love tech. but there are limits to everything and we need kids that have social and tech skills - both...

Look at these salaries for TOP draft picks from top D1 schools that came from DA programs... this is a joke. First rounders in MLB get MILLIONS. The #1 pick in 2019 signed for $7.5M. Minimum salary in MLB is $563k vs $56k in MLS. Teach your kid how to throw a baseball instead of playing DA.

You think that's bad? Try the women's. It's lousy for NWSL and the WNBA. This is why a good college degree for female athletes will remain the focus for many years to come.

WNBA: Even though WNBA players will enjoy a modest salary increase in the upcoming 2019-20 season, they will still earn about 20% of the minimum salary of an NBA player even though they’re essentially doing the same job, according to CNBC. Young, for example, will gross a mere $53,537 despite being the No. 1 draft pick and a standout player during her collegiate career at Notre Dame. Meanwhile, most of the other rookies will earn even less with a starting salary of $41,965. That’s nearly $20,000 less than the median U.S. household income. In comparison, the starting salary for the NBA for the 2018–19 season was $582,180. Overall, the average WNBA players make around $79,000 while the maximum salary caps at $117,500. The minimum player salary for players with three or more years of service is $56,375. https://www.blackenterprise.com/top-...salaries-2019/

NWSL: First and foremost, the league boasts a 19% increase in the salary cap for the 2020 season, set now at $650,000, plus increases to the league minimum and maximum salaries, upped to $20,000 and $50,000 respectively.

I thought that when the women’s political leanings were mentioned every 5 mins , that would get more people to watch and spend money at these events , ultimately raising salaries for everyone involved , no?

Despite an uptick in attendance after this summer's world cup, NWSL attendance numbers are bad, even lower than the WNBA in many cases. Only exception is the Portland team. There is no money is US women's soccer except around international events, and that only generates excitement because we win.
