Is it an age change? Heard youth clubs want to go back to the school calendar year for teams vs birth year.

Posting that we want it to happen isn't real helpful Does anyone have insight as to what keeps them from changing to grad year? Insurance? Hope for NT placement? other?

Look at AS from SSS. What is she 13 or 14 playing on a U20 team? Those special kids will be brought up through the system and placed accordingly. We don't have to screw up our youth teams to make that happen. Players can always play up. They can never play down.

I think the poster’s point is that a kid like AS will be found by US Soccer regardless of how the age groups are structured. Birth year is a negative for any kid that is born sept-Jan and doesn’t play DA. Being a trapped player in 8th grade and then again as a junior is frustrating for kids and parents and is a pain for clubs to deal with. Grad year gives every kid a team to play on every year. It also makes recruiting easier for college coaches. Every player on the field is in the same recruiting class. Lacrosse goes by grad year and it seems to work well.
