No way DA goes for that. Non MLS clubs couldn't afford to lose those teams. Doesn't make sense for the MLS clubs either.

Quality development is critically important at u13, u14, and u15....and by the time they reach u18, MLS clubs have a pretty good sense as to who is going to make it. For players greater than 18 that they want to keep they send them to the second team (playing in USL Championship or USL League 1). Otherwise, it is off to college on scholarship.

That's logical for MLS clubs; crushes the revenues of the non MLS clubs. Another step towards MLS pulling out of DA altogether?

I believe USSF will eventually step away from the DA and leave the pro clubs in the US to administer their own development activities. If you add MLS, USL Championship, USL 1 and NISA clubs together, you could get a league with over 80 pro clubs.

Back in 2007, USSF jump started the elite development concept via DA system, but now its time to take off the training wheels and leave it to the pro clubs to take it from here. Job done. In the long run, USSF does not want to run youth leagues (and compete directly with their constituents).

Non pro DA clubs (like BS and OW) can continue their pay-to-play model once the DA system is disbanded, but will need to find a new league to play in. Their focus will shift almost exclusively to producing college ready players - similar to the ECNL's message.

I would suggest OW affiliate with Hartford Athletic (USL Championship) in order to stay relevant at the top of the youth development scene in CT.

The DA will break up some of the younger and middle teams to single ages to make up for lost revenue

This will happen. MLS teams are calling the shots. Agree it doesn’t make sense. The former 19ers will playboy U23 teams

Got an email this morning that BS is doing supplemental tryouts for the Spring season. They are starting this week (nothing like waiting til the last minute) for u10, u12, u16 and U17 at Goal Sports in Stratford if anyone is interested.

Keep in mind that success is a choice. For shîts and giggles I suggest that you watch the embedded video on the tryout registration page of an annoyingly snarky preteen from some Fairfield County town (likely Westport or Old Greenwich) talking about BS.

I got the same one. When you can't even fill rosters half way through the year things are not going well. HS players were done in November so BS tapped that group dry already
