It will be very interesting once April tryouts come!
TBU does not have a full DA, it only goes up the U17 and then the better players will go to CC for the last year or two years. TBU has no pathway to the pros, which is what the DA wants.

Did CC just checkmate TBU on the DA with the Rowdies partnership?

Not the case. You don't know about chess. Checkmate, means you are done. Tbu is far from done. As a matter of fact tbu has more to offer to their player than cc. Time will tell cc is on a downward spiral. The rowdies affiliation is like providing life support to a brain dead person. It only works temporarily.

Don’t worry CC will do a great job of telling no one about this and in 3 months this announcement will be dead. CC does a great job telling no one about nothing. What ever happened to the CC and Orlando city announcement a couple of years ago?

The rowdies are trying to do a good thing. By having dif affiliation with multiple club this could help with attendance.

this is exactly what the Rowdies are trying to do, is bring in more fans to the games, it all boils down to $$$$$$$$$ , the more people you have drinking the kool aid the more your likely to get to come to your games and spend money, IE: $$$$$$$$$$$$$ thats what it comes down to point blank.

makes perfect sense, Rowdies are in St. Pete, chargers are the club in that area, you want to draw more of a crowd from your local market , then you make them happy and bring them aboard which = more dollars and cents.... duh

Weird so why are there so many CC DA boys bailing and going to TBU...Just saying...I have had plenty of conversations with CC DA Parents and they all complain about the coaching and training. A couple of on field access passes isn't going to hack it...

CC was knocked to second tier the moment TBU got DA up to U17. TBU always did a better job of collecting players from the smaller clubs at a young age than CC did. CC used to get the first pick of the DA, though, because why go to TBU if when you turned 15 you had to go to the Chargers anyway. Well, once that advantage went away, TBU immediately became the first stop for DA tryouts and CC gets the rest.

It's too bad neither club actually develops their own DA players from within their youth academy teams though and have to just recruit from Plant City, Lutz and Florida Premier.

Perhaps look at it from another perspective

I realize that it feels like TBU, West Florida Flames and Chargers “steal” from other smaller clubs, especially if you feel like your player is being left behind. However, I wish the “smaller” clubs would look at their role as more of a feeder program anyway. We can’t have 5-10 DA programs in a city. We also want to allow places for all players to play no matter their ability - it is what fuels the love for the game. So many of you complain about TBU stealing this player or Chargers not developing their own, but the reality is that all of the clubs in Tampa contribute to these programs in one way or another. We should take pride in the fact we have a group of kids at every age group, both boys and girls, who can compete with the rest of the nation. Do the programs have areas they need to improve. Absolutely. Do they expose these kids to the best in the country. You bet. However, if the “smaller” clubs keep trying to keep their players in their fold rather than encouraging them to reach for something greater, they are not doing what is best for their players. I would hate for a coach to discourage my kid to participate in these programs simply because they don’t want to lose them. Stop being enraged by this phenomenon. You are only hurting the players. I don’t have a DA player, but if my kid gets the opportunity, I would hope he or she does not have a coach who squashes their dreams for such selfish reasons. I would also hope that these DA programs (and ECNL) don’t stop looking at talent from other clubs, as it would be short-sighted of them to only look at their own “home-grown” players. Collectively, as a Tampa soccer community, we should start celebrating these teams and supporting them, not trashing them the second something seemingly goes wrong.

Can we all agree that there are great players and good players?
Where should our best players go?
There is professional soccer in the US played by people from the US.
If we based our plan on TS we would all just quit playing.

Three of TBU Rowdies players sign USL Academy contracts and make their pro debut with The Tampa Bay Rowdies! 2020: We start the process again with three of our U-17 DA players participating in the Rowdies Pro Combine this past weekend.
