makes you feel good
does that make you feel better? state cup was an 11 player roster of a team that had left the club more than two months earlier. the only kids that played state cup were the kids that were
guest players? when does a player stop being a guest player? every kid that travels with us has been fully rostered with our club for almost the entire year. Two of these kids play with other FYSA rosters with clubs that understand how to put a kid's interests first. The result is a roster of 21 kids that all believe they are on the FC Florida team.
only competitive parents at other club would call them guest players. we just call them kids that are having a great time, getting great exposure to college coaches, beating some of the best teams in the country (many of which also have similar models of assembled academy teams, multi-club combinations, or impactful guest players). its a great program of club cooperation that should be a model that others follow.
Or, we can keep thinking that FYSA is the only way to define a club, the only way kids should participate in youth soccer and the only way to use soccer to help get into college. we think that's silly. we would rather not participate in FYSA, cooperate with a few other clubs when appropriate and give great opportunities for kids.
again, others should do the same. it's one of the only way to get our Florida kids into great exposure situations in national events.
