    Weston Girls’ Weston Cup Performance

This has to be a first. Not one Weston girls team won their division at the 2019 Weston Cup out of almost 30 different divisions. If JS is going to save us, he has a lot of work to do.

Not sure what the main cause of this is. Talent, coaching, parents? Probably some combination of everything. Cooper City, a rec club that doesn’t pay coaches and charges $500 a year, at least won a younger division.

Does a Weston AYSO team Championship count? They DO play under the Weston FC Banner you know.

I think Cooper City also won in an older division too. U14 or U15.

Not so fast, Sunrise won a few brackets. Weston/Sunrise cause they trade players through the Alliance. So based on the Sunrise addition they should be dominating. NOT!!!!!!!!!

It’s my understanding that JS is running the GDA, not the entire girls side. Is that accurate?

I’m sure the coaches on the girls side will possibly get some direction and learn from him, but it’s unfair to think that dude is going to come in and immediately impact the entire club. Does he work with the non DA coaches at all? I don’t know.

I think he’s there to improve the quality of the environment for the top level players, attract top level players because of the environment, and...yeah start to develop some players to funnel up to the top team.

Rome was not built in a day. 7 months ago there almost wasn’t a Weston GDA at all.

Basic travel tourney with 3rd teamers from Weston vs 1st teamers from other clubs. Would be shocking if they won any division.

Is that just for the girls? That is not true on the boys side.

U13 pre-da (the highest team and next years “elite DA”) finished LAST in their group behind a wf, pinecrest and a sunrise. They scored one goal the entire “basic travel tourney” tournament. The cupboard seems bare at Weston for the next few years. Weston needs an alliance to survive. Prime will have their pickings from parents and players realizing they have been lied to for so many years. Take your head out of the sand

WTH are you talking about? Prime will have their picking of who? The team you just described as coming in last? Do you see how foolish that sounds?

Players and parents need to stop feeling entitled to anything at all. Just cause you’re at Weston or at Prime....there should be absolutely no guarantee that you play or make the next team or level up. Shouldn’t matter where you played the year before. Period.

Sports is a meritocracy for both the player and the club / coach. If the player is not good enough to make the DA team or the next ECNL team...too bad, enjoy another team please. If you don’t think JS t Weston or AH at Prime is the right coach or director for your player...move to another program. No one should be owed anything.

Honestly, I’d be beyond disappointed if JS wasn’t out actively scouting and recruiting players to Bring into the DA next year. He should be.

I’d be disappointed if AH and TT weren’t trying to bring in more talent to the Prime team. They need it.

It’s these coaches / directors jobs to create teams and training situations that serious players want to play in.

Both those programs are working to build something, I guess we’ll see who works the hardest and can deliver in the next few years.

This only shows that player talent is spread out.

not the boys side, just the younger girls side

That's a false description of that team. They are "Pre-DA" but playing in an age group that doesn't have a DA team. That means that next year Weston will select the best talent available and most of the girls on this Pre-DA team will be on next years Pre-DA team (or whatever they call their top non-DA team.

These girls may be paying a lot of money to have the term "DA" associated with their team name but it is unfair to actually suggest they are future DA players. Maybe a handful of those girls could make a DA roster, maybe none. It depends on how talented the girls coming to the DA tryouts are. There is no brand loyalty in DA soccer.

The Cooper City U14 girls won, but they have a decent little team all things considered. Heard one of the Weston GU16 teams couldn’t even field an entire team and had to forfeit all their games. Crazy!!

Chill out people. You have a couple options. Pick which one is a better fit. Or you can play NPL and run around the state playing meaningless matches.
