Hahaha oh no! Parents don’t have mandatory jobs to set up canopy’s and get power aide powder??

You mean we won’t be able to play teams from around the area...oh wait, you mean we still play the same teams?

Oh no, no more 11 year olds on half a field for training when they can’t complete a 10 yard pass???

What are we to do now that the “DA” isn’t saving soccer

You are ruining all the complaints from the parents who’s kids didn’t make the da teams .

Also add : knowing the schedule a year out and a much more overal structured and regulated environment

I can’t wait til these jealous parents who wanted da to fail have these kids back in their league taking their playing time and wins away. Little Johnny is going to the bench or the second/third team 👏

Dear Parents do you realize what your future driving actually looks like at the HS level? You will be driving to Bend, Salem & Eugene for mid week afternoon games at the JV2, JV & Varsity level.

If your life activities don't make you uncomfortable, then your not developing as a person.

Generally, school districts provide transportation to away games for players. Parents if they want to watch need to drive themselves, but the players ride the bus.

And kids in the metro area are unlikely to have games in Eugene or Bend--you mainly play other teams in PIL or Metro or Three Rivers or whatever.

I will tell you what to do....

Go to your club to help raise the standard that the DA brought. The DA made my sons club a better club. They now have a certified trainer all day Saturday and Sunday at our conplex.

People don’t understand that the health and welfare of the players should be number one. Having staff that trains players how to stretch, move, strengthen and recover is a big deal. Most wont understand because everyone around here is a recreational club. There are no real club around here. The closest would be the Portland Timbers. They have the closest to a facility for players but it’s not even 50% of what it should be. The DA raised the standard. Most couldn’t handle even supplying a bench for the visiting team which is sad.

You want to grow the game? We need more of the DA standards on a consistent basis.

How does anyone make money out of DA? Fees are the same as OYSA; expenses to the club are a bit higher (someone has to buy the powerade and rent the camera; and you need an A licensed coach around). US Soccer doesn't get any money from participating clubs.

There's plenty of a-hole parents in the DA (check out the 05 boys thread if you doubt this).

Most are in TA. DA parents are angels.

US Soccer gets the registration fee's DA, they make money

OYSA / Timbers get the registration fee's, they make money.

Wrong answer regarding metros area kids having games in Bend. Eugene & Medford games happen quite a bit on 2 year contracts home and away.

Leagues are now only 7 or 8 teams and you only play each other once in league.

With a 15 game regular HS season 14 + 1 endowment game, Nowadays nearly all teams at the 6A (Metro area) play 8 or 9 non league games and guess what the Salem league with the Bend Schools are matched up for non-leagues games with the Portland area leagues by AD agreement.

(HS)Is the last time parents will ever see their kid play they ain’t missing games at the HS Level, they even cut out of work early to see them play.

Generally at the younger club level most parents send their kid to carpool with a coach or another parent if they don’t want their ‘free’ weekend day disturbed by a trip to Salem, Corvallis, Medford, Eugene or Bend.

HS aged club kids of driving age, drive themselves. Parents might have to cover their gas.

Sorry you didn’t know how it actually is.

Truth is the metro teams don’t have to play any far away teams unless their AD signs them up for it. Even then, it’s usually a home one year, away the next so most metro teams play maybe one away game a season that’s a couple hours away. Buses do take the players and most parents simply skip that game. No big deal.

Why would you be worried about the rest of DA? The majority of clubs agree with US Soccer that DA for U12 was unnecessary. US soccer evaluated it with club participation and decided it was not necessary to spend US Soccer resources. The U12's were added in 2016-17 season. They tried it and based upon feedback it was not needed. Of course the clubs that only have "mini" DA i.e only U12 or U12, U13-U14 may not be happy but they are a minority.

So US Soccer tries and evaluates something that did not really do what they were hoping, eliminates it and it worries this poster?

Nobody is worried about the MLS Timbers DA it's fully funded and moving forward.

Stripping the label of a 'DA' mini Oregon League from 5 oregon local clubs is not worrisome it's actually called returning to reality.

Oregon will fold the Mini DA league u13/14 experiment sooner than later.
It's worrisome for clubs like BSC/NEUnited absolutely or XF/OPFC. Absolutely.

You are correct the Salem kids are travelling to Bend & Portland for pre season and regular season. This is a big state.

Yes, but there is a team bus driving the players to the game.
