Thats IF coaches show up to the newly formed league event after hearing it is third tier now.Highly Questionable and for sure not certain. Then the next event is not until April and then June. What are you drinking? First of all, these dates are something someone made up. The GA hasn't announced anything. Beyond that, no significant league has showcases before November. ECNL Phoenix is in November. Did you go to their Dec showcase last year? No coaches were there. Texas? Same thing. Phoenix in November and Florida in the January are the only strong ones.

For the GDA, it was in December, and then in April. This is actually an improvement for the seniors at Weston and all of the other GA clubs. By the way, third tier? Are you that stupid? 90% of the GDA is in the GA. Do you think the NPL suddenly jumped ahead of the DA? If so, you need to put the bottle down.

As a coach, to understand the current situation, you have to understand the history. When the GDA started, many of the top clubs left ECNL, and it looked ECNL's days were numbered. They went on a VERY aggressive expansion campaign, hoping to stay relevant with larger numbers, and they signed many clubs that were not prepared to play at that level. The GDA certainly had it's own issues, but they started to narrow the number of clubs and significantly improved the level of play across the board.

If you've been to the showcases, you know that there are many ECNL matches are really not scouted at all. There are several tiers in the ECNL, and few coaches bother to look at those toward the bottom. At the GDA, we were dealing with a smaller pool of teams, and a more consistent level of talent across all teams. We had more time at each match, and were able to evaluate more players that were high caliber. I've never seen a GDA showcase match that did not have multiple scouts watching.

The GA has the vast majority of the GDA teams, with a few strong additions. We will see if the ECNL can now narrow their focus and improve their quality, but for now, the GA will continue to get the same level of attention the GDA received.

If a Senior is not committed by November, her offer will come from ID Camps, not from Showcases.

It would be much less of an issue if they went back to grade based teams, not calendar year. Seniors don't need showcases by senior year, just national playoffs if they qualify. Composite teams (ECNL too) are just a mishmosh of whoever is around to play.

This is a true post if you don’t have a top level director of college placement at your club. If you have an individual with a good track record of college placement then your child will be fine, however if that is locking, it becomes far more challenging. I’d also add that many girls have been identified by a college program in early 11th grade, and most earlier than that. If you sign up for a club that doesn’t have a strong track record of working directly with college coaches you are not setting your child up for success. There are very few individuals at our clubs that capable of large scale quality college placement within South Florida clubs.
