Both are very well run clubs with top trainers, coaches and administrators and yet they decided to go all in with US Soccer because they all thought there players would have a better chance playing with the Youth National teams than if they stayed ECNL with just one foot in the door. Both PDA/FC Stars lost faith early on with DA and others followed while these 2 clubs with close relationship with US Soccer held firm for there own interests instead of what was in the best interest for there players. Unless ECNL relents and brings back the number 1 rated club in the country as well as the highly rated FCV we will now see what the ramifications will be for both clubs going forward without the ECNL banner. Loyalty and commitment only goes so far and its a two-way street.
ECNL can ignore TH for this year with no blowback at all. TH will even more desperate to get in next year when GA (or is it GAL still?) starts to collapse.

Lesson learned for those who haven't figure it out yet: never burn bridges. It's not that big a soccer world and it changes all the time. You never know when you will need a coach or club to help you out in the future.

Meanwhile there is an exodus from their younger age groups which will hurt their overall rankings. Talk about a poorly thought out move.

Let‘s be honest here, TH did what they thought was best, USSDA is the villain here, they abandoned clubs like TH, FCV and PFA, and these are some of the top clubs on the east coast. The USSDA should all be prosecuted for fraud. What a DB time to disband the league, OMG this is so infuriating, I could spit....

FC Virginia is in ecnl regional league, so there is some hope for them next year. TH has struck the iceberg. The bottom of the Atlantic awaits.

TopHat was one of the jewels in the crown worn by ECNL. There had to be major discord personal in nature for ECNL to not let there No. 1 ranked club back in like they did with the other Crown Jewels who took a chance by walking the fence between both leagues for what they thought would be more revenue streams and have their players exposed to the National teams/camps. TopHat administrators put there egos ahead of what was best for there players and now there best players will leave to play in a more competitive league. As far as the punishment for FCV they are now stuck in a bad place with playing in this “B” league which is the ECNL minor leagues. This RL was formed not to compete alongside ECNL but as an additional ECNL revenue stream so that players who would go play EDP/NPL etc. would rather join RL and play against other ECNL club “B” teams than these other league “A” teams. FCV has been relegated and accepted rather than join this new LEAGUE formed by DA clubs. That to me shows FCV desperation to get back in the fold.

Isn’t FC Virginia a member of GA? As for TopHat; they definitely brought it on themselves. You NEVER go down with the ship. If it’s taking water; you bail. Not hard to understand. GDA was taking on water ever since year one.

Yeah, not so true, that 1st year was special for my kids team, we had a good old season, played tough in San Diego, and my kid committed to a good A1 school, 2nd year was different in many ways, but that 1st time around was pretty cool.

Happy your kid has a good experience, but the entire league has already starters to fail. Sorry, it’s true.

Care to share your (opinion) with some facts, because PDA and Stars did not quit until after the 1st year was complete, so unless you are a board member of either one of those mafia clubs, you have no clue, you’re inventing shiit...

Not the poster, but at least 10 clubs bailed out year 1 including some of the best in the country not just the NE. While many predicted GDA would eventually fold, I don't think anyone predicted that many good clubs bailing out year 1 or the whole league being gone this quickly. USSF blew it.

And the talk of them leaving was well before the season ended

Sure, because there were powerful ECNL clubs with a presence in both leagues that had the incentive for only one to succeed. The situation was unavoidable. USSF had to let established Clubs in and most of those Clubs had no desire to comply to ant rule they felt did not suit. GDA was always going to be a poor league unless it got real buy in and there is/was no economic incentive to do that

They apparently did no market research before they launched this league. Who were all the customers supposed to be that were going to Shell out for a another big national league with even more travel burden then the ecnl? That was biggest complaint with the ecnl and they made it even worse. That league made no sense.
