Oakwood, Beachside, Seacoast, Bolts are Not in the same class as MLS clubs in this league. It is the same as before.
Devil is in details.
MLS only required to field u15, u17 for this league
These are feeder clubs for MLS.
What will MLS do with u19’s and where does that leave the non MLS clubs in this league?
These non MLS clubs are there to funnel players to the MLS clubs. That is why they agree to play them. It makes for easy recruitment for MLS.
Now what about cost? Former DA clubs were subsidized by USSF. They did not pay reffs, tournament fee, or league fees. I expect cost to participate to drastically increase. Minimum 1k plus more travel expenses.
What kind of showcase or tournaments will MLS league organize? Probably will not be as good as before at least for a few years.
Boys ECNL now has the opportunity to establish itself as the best route to college soccer like they are for girls. The ball is in their court.

The same things that make ECNL attractive to girls are what make it unappealing to boys.

This continues the same pathway that existed before, almost completely unchanged. BECNL is trash. It is a great league for girls. It is an awful league for boys. MLS has committed to showcase events and anyway, that's not what boys are playing for. They want a chance at pro academy status. Mens college soccer has few scholarships and is saturated with internationals already, anyway. If a boy wants to play college they will do so by participating in the very clear cut top league, MLS. This is where they get ,easured against the best players and can train all year. ECNL is going to stay equivalent to NPL, just like last year.

MLS league is not the only way to college soccer.
