And if your kid plays for a Div.1 team means that he/she will automatically play for the MLS, Team USA?? Sometimes these parents just makes me laugh. You are talking about a U12 team right? So its better to lose all games in the first round of Region C as long as you play Div.1 rather than going to the final four in Div.2? Why? Because college scouts were there ONLY to see your 12 year old play Region C Div.1?? How about just being a part of a highly ranked Div.1 team but sits on the bench and never plays? I understand the thinking really, and the Fantasy Soccer mentality of it.

They also played region c and entered division 2 , so if they're playing Division II in league play and they enter division 2 in league play, they obviously believe that they're not a top team and definitely a below average tier 2 team

And that is the right place for this team. If they played in State Cup they would probably not win one game. Now they have a chance to win Region C and go to Presidents Cup. If they make it to Presidents Cup, they will most likely not win that, but at least they will get more games than if they went to State Cup. They, at least, know their place in youth soccer. They know or the coach knows that they are not State Cup material. Nothing wrong with that.
