    Thanks Captain Obvious.

If new owner comes and gives a song and dance to families and employees, the majority stay

Specially if they have cool uniforms

Take the players? Hah hah. Have you seen GPS play?

I think you'll find parts of this comment extremely inaccurate.

SCYSC begged, and I mean begged GPS to stay.

I used to think CT was oversaturated. Rhode Island cannot sustain this many clubs and have any of them be any good. GPS will likely be a very weak program based out of Westerley. Not sure how much of a draw they will be to CT families.

Top clubs in CT are moving to NEP or NY leagues. Makes perfect sense for most Eastern CT parents. Bests traveling to NY.

Wrong. Sporting split apart because parents were sick of traveling to other states. You have a couple of CFC North branches that will play NEP. Few other clubs will go EDP or NPL. The rest should stay in CT. There is enough talent to stay in state. If you want to do crazy traveling join DAP or ECNL. Otherwise just join CCSL. If you go undefeated and blow everyone out of the water in top division then look for another league.

Have to agree many teams should stay in state, but obviously that isn't stopping some from trying. Sporting made a big mistake tying to go regional when many teams weren't good enough and many parents didn't want the travel. They were trying too hard to be something they were not instead of trying to maximize what they had. They weren't even the best in the state at the time - no state titles and that's with state cup already being weaker than it used to.

At the RI border area it's tough - SE CT doesn't have much going on, a few RI teams are decent, then you have to go up into MA to get better competition. If GPS moves in they should start with CCSL and see how it goes

Some sporting teams struggled. Most did pretty well in EDP. They are looking to go to NEP NPL for Fall for their top teams and keep their 2nd teams in CCSL.

NEP is a better drive for many of their families than EDP but I'm pretty sure they applied for NEP last year and didn't get it. I'm also certain they aren't really big enough to support a full bevy of regional and state teams, especially now with a nearby rival

I think that they applied for NEP NPL and didn't get in. Anyone can play in NEP.

GPS are locked and loaded in Westerley. They will be playing this Spring and will undoubtedly impact the SE border of CT. Another oversaturated marketplace. Southeast used to be the dominant player in this area. Doca football is not their equal but has taken players away at every age level. Now each club is operating at less than 100%. GPS will now come in and further dilute an already weak pool.

Is GPS still partnering with Shoreline FC? There only seems to be a Greenwich Shoreline. Has the New Haven branch folded?

GOS will only effect low level clubs and players.

I think you are definitely wrong here. GPS is a juggernaut and will impact CT soccer. Landscape is changing drastically right now. DA is going to attract strongest players and ECNL is already starting to get watered down. GPS will probably take some time it they will likely change FSA and CFC patterns of recruitment.

We heard the same thing with Rush a few years ago. they've made a few decent teams but are largely in the 4th or 5th tier in CT soccer.

Yes, GPS will absolutely get in the wallet of some CT soccer parents. The Southeast corner of the state is basically on the poverty line. There's not much of a bonanza coming from there. OW and FSA have Hartford County locked up and offer high end options. CFC owns the rest of the state and now has a brand new home for the elite teams.

Lots of people fishing from a shallow pond.

Rush has done a decent job. Like GPS they will eventually a larger presence in CT. Also like GPS they will have some quality teams and some crappy teams. The Rush teams in Wilton have been impressive and the ones from Guilford are decent. The group out of Waterbury are poor. Really not unlike CFC.
