She just wants to improve her fitness because she’s puberty and the changes to her body has negatively impacted her overall fitness - some attributes that came easy to her before aren’t so easy now. If she wants to improve her overall fitness, and she does, doesn’t require Amy other reason than she wants to fit herself. There are A LOT of reasons a player might not want to talk to her coach about it too.
If her desire isn't at a point where SHE wants to run a couple miles a few days a week, advancing the discussion into more elaborate training regimens is pointless.

Know of a couple girls who at U12 were strong and fast and stood out on the field. Fast forward four years later and one of the girls is incredibly fit and continues to stand out on the pitch. The other one, not so much. She’s much slower now and it’s harder for her to defend fast forwards who take advantage of speed. Genetics can be cruel to female players.

Whatever she does, she can decrease the likelihood of injury with proper warm-up and cool-down regimen. Also, include posterior chain strength training to reduce likelihood of knee-specific injury. FIFA 11+. Micheli Center.
